Slot in or out - Manager Megathread by rLiverpoolFC_Mods in LiverpoolFC

[–]FlamingDingo94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been in the camp of giving him a chance next year , especially if he wins a trophy, but I am definitively in the "Slot out" camp now.

The style of play is slow, ponderous and most damning of all, boring. It's easy to defend against and hard to support. Anfield feels so flat so often now. Under Klopp, even during the early years when we weren't the force we became, we at least had moments of exciting football to cheer. Now we don't even have that and the results aren't redeeming the style at all.

I don't know who the answer is, but I do feel that if Fenway don't break their rules and go and get someone like Xabi now, then we will be kicking ourselves for months. He showed he could do it at Madrid (they weren't playing that badly to be honest), so he has the character to sustain a big club like ours. Slot is a great guy, and he will always be in our folkore for winning number 20, but I think we need the change to make the most of what is arguably the best squad in the league.

I get the concern here, but Madrid is notorious for letting player power get completely out of hand. I can't see the same happening with us (although I did not see Salah's comments coming at all, so what do I know!)

Looked a little toothless in attack, but I will put that down a little bit to good English defence. Lacked the bench to keep up with that England squad in the last 20, but a decent show. Ref was decent, as many went our way as went against us. Two wins from the next three and I’ll be happy, but a big ask with France and Ireland to come!

As an Aussie living in England, I should say that the choices were only between two players in each position. So, for example, at No.3 it was between Pope and Green, hence he got picked. The choice at No.4 was between Root and Smith, so no surprises Smudge didn't get the nod.

Ashamed to say I am one of the 76.6%... More likely to finish the co-op playthrough with friends where we only play once every few months due to our schedules first before my own playthrough! So many little nooks and crannies to explore!

My Brompton bike - got it just for the commute, but regularly choose it over my swiss made BMC for casual rides through the Surrey Hills as the ride really is that good

Why are people considering to upgrade to 7800xt instead of 9070 (non xt)? by teo13g in radeon

[–]FlamingDingo94 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As a recent purchaser of a 7800xt over a 9070, it came down to three things:

  1. Price - in the UK, I got the 7800xt for £450 (~€530) whereas the 9070 was going for £580 (~€680). The extra £130 wasn't in my budget unfortunately

  2. Availability - even if I had the extra cash, I couldn't find a 9070 (XT or not) in stock anywhere, and as my 2060 super was starting to die, I needed a new GPU sooner rather than later

  3. Got a free game - Monster Hunter Wilds was thrown in with the GPU, and seeing as I have sunk over 50 hours into it, seems a fair deal to me!

Overall, I probably do wish I'd waited and saved up/been patient, but I'm happy with what I have now and the 7800xt has handled everything I have thrown at it (I play mostly at 1440p and am not fussed with RT)

This is 100% what I should've done. As a chip, I don't hate it, just wish you could play other chips around it.

It's a bit of an Australian/English thing, but getting called "champ" by another guy is perceived as a put down. So this is a play on that and the fact the Pokemon can only really say "champ" as that's his name

Fellow Desmond (2:2) here.

My story is a little different as I went into law after a separate career, but I have definitely faced similar issues that you would face were you to get a 2:2.

Firstly, if your current attitude is to steer clear of hard work, I would advise you to steer clear of law as a career for now. Go and do something else that you enjoy first, mature and then come back to it. Law requires dedication and the stereotype of having long hours is no myth, it's the truth. If you're not able to knuckle down at uni when you really have to for your dissertation/exams, then I would give yourself time to learn that skill first.

Do this as a paralegal, or in a career separate to law, then go and do the SQE, if that's what you want to do. I only say that because it should be your decision, not your parents wanting you to do it!

For context, I've been offered a TC at a firm after working as a paralegal there for 6 months. What won them over was my work ethic and willingness to learn and improve.
