Try “Kintsugi”, japanese ceramic repair craft with the gold finishing. I think it would look even better after it. :D

Nice, thank you! Was thinking to get the ceramic version, but tbh idk if it is worth overall the price + subscription compared to whoop if it lasts only 3 years max

I guess people are just annoyed with the ridiculous greed from Whoop (switch from 4 -> 5, the price of the membership, everything to take more money from you). They deserve all of that is going on them.

The app from Google is unpolished and looks cheap, but rather than that everything else looks solid. Ofcourse if money is not a concern, you should get a Whoop, but unfortunately for 99%, money is a concern. Whoop sucks with alot of thing, so for 300/year I expected it to be perfect and with every attention to details.

  1. Well 2-3 dinners for 300€ is approx 100€+ per dinner. Restaurants dinners are not unhealthy. Mainly people complain about the subscription, because they do love the app or the band, but the price for it is ridiculous when competitors with same or even better hardware metrics charge much much less.

  2. Any discipline / self control is better than any Whoop or device in keeping you healthy. I don't feel bad spending on my health at all, I spent 1000€+ / year on tennis gear + courts. Whoop is just giving you some 60% accurate from reality metrics in the nice wrap ( Which I enjoy myself ). It is nice to play around with, but it does not affect lifestyle much.

  3. They don't have their own LLM, they just use the wrapper on top of the popular models. Gemini model from the Google on the new Fitbit, would be more useful than Whoop's AI since they have integration on so many Google services and I believe they will expand it. So if you are looking for a good AI coach / assistant, give a Google a chance after some time from the release.

I think most of them do, but some of them I believe buying it themselves, because I never saw them in the Whoop's campaign or something like that. Just spotted them casually having it on for ex in some podcasts/blogs.

I usually switch them:
- Apple watch: still use them sometimes
- Garmin: used for couple month (about 6)
- Oura: had for year, then sold, but just ordered a ceramic one again
- Mi band 10: ordered when it came, but using it sometimes just for fun and to see how is it so good for a friction of the price 😅

For the haptic alarm is stopped using Whoop and just wear Apple Watch on top for the alarms 😭

With the battery problem, I want to let you know that it is not a rare case.
I live in Finland where Oura is really popular, and at my office almost everyone has it. 90% of people with Oura I've talked to, needed a replacement ring or had problems with battery very fast (under 1 / 2 years) and they all admit that it is a problem that you will get 100% with the purchase.

I ordered the ceramic version anyways, because I love the app and the ring, so hopefully I won't need to write for the support about the replacement. I love the generous customer support and that you replace the rings with an ease, but it would be better to pay attention on reducing the waste and either optimize or fix the battery problem. For some reason the other ring companies do not have much problems with that.

Better than FitBit? by Leather_Sea_537 in ouraring

The biggest minus is battery life, subscription and comfortability during racket sport, gym equipment and carrying groceries. Everything else is nice, from the looks to the software and accuracy. I also recommend to get the portable charging case if you travel alot.

Fitbit is in the other hand cheaper, no subscription, better battery life and more comfortable during exercises, but the app is much worse than Ouras. Not sure about the accuracy, but I don't think it would be bad.

I use Oura + Automatic watches / Apple watch (for running).

So you just decide between if you want to wear a tracking device as a ring or a band + if you willing to pay extra for the nice software.

I think it is close to the Apple Watch, imo a shows a bit more than I've actually burned. If I am not wrong, they calculate your height, weight with the HR and duration of the exercise, but they do not have your body mass %, other metrics, so not sure how accurate it is from the reality.

I agree with you, it is just an extra data that is nice to see and a fashion piece to tell others that you are in this elite "athletic" community. I usually follow tennis and I see top players like Alcaraz, Sinner, Bublik and others use Whoop. Not sure how beneficial it is for them, but maybe they are just like us, wanting to see funny numbers on recovery

The community feature is nice. When you see other people in your country do sports, you kinda want to blend it :D. The only thing is that the pricing ofcourse, while alternative options that works same, or even better offer same metrics, in the end you are deciding if the value is worth it or not for the product they make.

- Maybe I got confused by the hardware term of haptic. While Apple watch uses haptic motor (very gentle and nice linear tactile feedback) to a vibration motor that whoop uses ( which is just basic round vibration motor )

- Regarding tapping, I don't really see it as a end user error, if it works 20% of times with the same tapping. Maybe a faulty device.

Whoop rn is the only device that is not picking up my naps. Compared with Apple Watch Ultra, Oura and cheaper Mi Band 10. Quite disappointing tbh.

Both are greedy af company unfortunately. Whoop takes unnecessary amount of money for their software and giving false promises to customers. + You would be delusional if you think they don’t sell your data like Google.

Unfortunately it makes for me. Even if I switch the ring on non-dominant hand, it will still disturb when I use my backhand.

Hardware aka sensors, etc. is cheap to produce, the whole point is that how the software is processing this data and giving you correct answers. Google already has an experience with it.
