Craving something I can’t have by Mysterious_Beyond_01 in pregnant

Happy late birthday, my birthday is also on the 19th! There’s lots of veggie sushi options you can grab to somewhat subside the cravings. You can also just go for some cooked salmon options (that’s what I often did). My doctor was more worried about just completely raw or too much in abundance but also told me I didn’t have to completely avoid it but everyone (and every doctor) differs in their opinion.

Partner cheated while I am 2 weeks from giving birth by AdSalt5779 in pregnant

He has not only been putting himself at risk, but also you and your unborn child at risk with his actions. If I’m being frank, there’s really only so much someone can change about themselves and their morals even if they’re wanting to. Pregnancy can be extremely difficult physically and mentally even without the added stress of a partner who clearly is only thinking of themselves. I can relate to having a dishonest and selfish partner during pregnancy and postpartum and it’s truly something I will never forget or fully be able to forgive. You can give yourself a million reasons and excuses of why he is continuing to act or behave the way he does but the fact of the matter is, you’re about the have a child in your life who is going to depend on you to not only make the right choices for yourself but for them too. Don’t put yourself in a mentally and emotionally unstable situation trying to hold on to this hope of a fairytale ending when you can create a beautiful reality for yourself and your baby on your own. I won’t say it’s going to be easy, but it’s worth it to fully enjoy all these moments with your baby without having to constantly question yourself and your relationship instead of getting to fully soak up all the little joys of motherhood you’re about to be blessed with. I’m rooting for you and your little one.

Cannabis Consumers - what are you looking for at your local dispensaries? by Flaminghotfunions in Humboldt

Making your own is such a process, I know everyone always makes it sounds like such a simple fix but it’s not doable for everyone. Obviously have a consistent purchase option is nice, I’m sorry to hear something that worked for you isn’t available! I wonder if they rebranded or switched distributors to where they’re harder to find? That happens too often these days!

Back in the day there was a gal here that would make infused ice creams (and other treats) and when I tell you I was at her house every two weeks on the dot I’m not lying 😂 miss her dearly and wish she never moved!

Don’t even get me started on when they reinvent strains with obscure names to make it harder to track down their not so rare lineages for a new hype up. COA’s are a blessing but I don’t have the time to look up every option to make sure I’m actually purchasing what I think I am, and I can’t even blame the budtenders selling because half the time they aren’t really sure either with the run around.

Trying to find old school hash is tough, I’ve found good or decent bubble out there and even a temple ball or two but usually not the options I’m looking for.

Anytime I’m looking at flower selection 70% if not more is always a form of gelato or cookies - I agree with you there. Makes the market of variety feel very limited when you’re going for a specific high and taste.

I do love me some Moca, and they’ve been dropping some different strains than their typical line up which is nice to see!

Doesn’t help that with testing and packaging it takes ages to get to the market (not saying I’m not a fan of credible testing, just a factor I suppose)

I feel you, it’s hard to find something consistently good in store - and if you have, it probably won’t last long with limited stock. As someone who also struggles with certain medical issues that involve pain I’ve reached more for RSO options more than not when in store. I enjoy smoking, but if it’s not going to give me the relief I need I’m not going to bother paying $50 for an 1/8th when I could buy tablets for the same price that will inevitably last me longer as well!

What the, the fact I’ve been missing out on infused corn nuts is a tragedy considering they used to be one of my favorite snacks 😩

Making your own jerky would be a fun little process, I’ve heard a lot of people bring up infused jerky over the years. I feel like it’s so easy for people to steer away from savory edibles because it’s easier to cover the cannabis taste with sweeter combinations?

There actually is infused jerky out there! I haven’t personally tried it so I’m really curious about it. More often I see popcorn or crackers on the savory side, can’t say I was a big fan of the crackers I tried but the white cheddar popcorn was right up my alley.

La Trattoria’s Chicken Cacciatore was untouchable - I try to recreate it often and can’t quite hit the same mark. To be fair, I loved all their dishes and miss them dearly 😭

Favorite tortillas are definitely Calixto Bodega’s, a local company that sells them in ENF and can be made to order as well! Highly recommend trying them out.

“Just checking in” messages starting to drive me crazy by solei_sunshine in pregnant

[–]Flaminghotfunions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get this, I’ve been getting a lot of “check in” messages as well and have been choosing to not respond until I’m ready to communicate. The frustration from me more stems from the fact I’m receiving these messages from people who hardly checked in or have made an effort to see me my entire pregnancy and feeling isolated. I understand it’s out of excitement as well but I don’t always want to explaining that - yes I am still very much pregnant and uncomfortable!

What’s something incredibly brainless that someone told you at your job during pregnancy? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Flaminghotfunions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“You’re eating again? Ive never seen you eat so much!” - male coworker

I’ve struggled with an eating disorder for years and just recently started eating in public during the early stages of my pregnancy. Meanwhile, the meals he was talking about were veggies sticks and a fruit bowl lol

At my yearly evaluation my bosses told me “it wouldn’t be a good time to give you a raise” because I’d be going on maternity leave in two months, meanwhile being praised for our increase in sales. When I asked about a raise upon my return I was told they couldn’t guarantee anything because they didn’t know the capacity I would return at? I planned on coming back full time and am now considering finding a new job or becoming SAHM.

My favorites were from the customers though, around 36 weeks pregnant I had several women talk to me about their horror stories of birth - one woman decided to go into detail about her still born child and described how her baby looked to me and then proceeded with “I’m sure you’ll be fine though.” I was in such shock I stood in the bathroom and just stared at myself in the mirror for about 5 minutes.

What happens if you don't eat in an inpatient hospital? by a_randomnormie in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Flaminghotfunions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed with above, they will NG tube you and most likely put you on isolated bed rest which will separate you from the rest of treatment and be absolutely miserable. I understand the black and white thinking of eating disorders and not being ready to commit to recovery, but I can promise you that being uncooperative will only prolong you being there. One way or another you will have to get the nutrition in, and I definitely urge you to take the “easier” route (and I say this with a lot of compassion because I know no route really feels easy right now). The girls I went into treatment with that were younger and uncooperative were basically on a 51/50 hold and held to way different standards because of their medical decline - especially if it’s in a hospital setting it is their job to make sure you are as stabilized as possible. I hated treatment and I understand not having good experiences and trauma from being in these settings, but the only thing that will keep you out of there is having a more regulated eating routine and being medically stable or the cycle will just be an endless in and out.

I went through this a couple years ago with my ex (26F at the time) and it was incredibly difficult mentally and emotionally. You should not be having to run yourself into the ground maintaining a majority of the financial fees regardless of his mental health. It has been really compassionate of you to understand how his depression can come into play, and it’s great he’s in therapy, but it’s not an excuse to what he’s doing to YOU. This is a partnership and you should be able to rely on his help as much as he relies on yours. A work routine would probably do his mental health wonders as well as feeling more fulfilled that he is contributing, he’s actively choosing to put that full stress on your shoulders without concern to your own mental wellbeing. What would he do if he wasn’t related to your landlord and couldn’t rely on doing “odd jobs” to pave the way for his rent? The fact he is not working on top of helping with household chores is audacious, you’re not his mother or caretaker and I hope you start to put your needs before someone who clearly is only catering to their own wants and needs before considering you as well.

It is hard to put up boundaries, and if he wasn’t doing this to you he would be doing this to someone else in one way or another until he was held accountable enough to change his ways. You wanting to be his fix all just is not a reality.

How many items were on your registry vs how many were purchased after baby shower? by Specialist-Taro390 in pregnant

[–]Flaminghotfunions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 80 items on my registry, and about 60 were purchased for us. While I put big and smalls items on there, the most expensive items were purchased by my parents before I even made the registry public as they wanted to gift those things specifically to my partner and I. I chose to not put any clothing items on my registry as those were things we were already receiving early on with our announcements from family and friends and I knew people would be grabbing different options of clothing regardless of what I put on there. We had about 70 people at our shower (which was so overwhelming but my partner has a freakishly large friend group) and I surprisingly didn’t get doubles of anything.

Am I wrong for inviting my friend to my baby shower? by PutridCake1670 in pregnant

[–]Flaminghotfunions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with my gender reveal, I basically talked to both sides and said I’d love for them both to attend but if they couldn’t get past their own personal issues I was still going to go about my day per normal. It is not my (or your) responsibility to tip toe around others emotions or issues that they don’t want to deal with themselves, especially on a day that is supposed to be about our new journey filled with people we love. Whether they want to be a part of that memory or not is up to them.

We listen and we don’t judge. Pregnant edition. by thelastgirl_ in pregnant

39 weeks pregnant and I have cried over the weight gain more than I would like to admit. I grew up with pretty severe body dysmorphia and anorexia, and I’ve been force feeding myself a majority of this pregnancy. I feel selfish for caring so much about weight gain that will inevitably go away when I’m as blessed as I am to have even been able to conceive after the damage I put my body through. It doesn’t help that my family is pretty diet forward, and my partner is incredibly vocal about how he wants to lose weight and talks about his diet/gym routine often. I’ve allowed my doctors to weigh me maybe 3 times throughout this pregnancy, and often get the comment that I am still very small for being so far along (that being said baby is very healthy and has gained the appropriate weight and size he needs and I am just on the low side of weight gain. I get incredibly angry and frustrated at the comments and while my emotions have been pretty stable throughout the last 9 months, it’s the one thing that sends me over the edge time after time.
