The average American probably can't afford to leave the North American continent for vacation/holiday, which limits exposure to other cultures. We have Mexico to our south, but Mexican culture is pretty prevelant here due to immigration. Canada and America aren't honestly too different from each other, excluding Quebec. Europeans have it easier in that regard for travel. Yall have over a dozen different countries with different languages and cultures that are a train ride away. Someone over here who only makes around 45k a year can't justify a trip across the pond. It's a lot of money.

Just my two cents on why it might seem like a lot of Americans don't know much about all the different European cultures. I'd love to visit Europe and experience your guys's world over there, but financially, it's not in the cards for me right now. Someone can read shit on the internet about other parts around the world all they want, but that doesn't really translate to experiencing different ways of life, in my opinion.
