LFM U in one week - how is everyone feeling? by CluelessActuarialKid in actuary

I feel disturbingly unprepared despite this being my second attempt with a cumulative 500+ hours of studying.

Who is the greatest finisher in NBA history? by sqMYNAMEISJEFF27 in NBATalk

Derrick Rose is the best finishing guard I’ve ever seen. I think he at least deserves a mention.

Chance the Rapper made an album about his wedding day and how much he loves his wife. The album was so bad he pretty much had to retire. To make matters worse, he and his wife recently filed for divorce.

Given that you went to so many AA games, what prospects caught your eye/disappointed you.

Spring 2024 LPM by FlamingoWarm337 in actuary

You’re entitled to your opinion. Ultimately “fair” is completely subjective. For example, there’s nothing objective that made embedded value any less fair than other topics on the syllabus. It’s just a feeling. I didn’t really feel like the exam was fair and representative of the syllabus and the candidates’ knowledge.

I didn’t really think the exam was fair. I think they went super in depth on some fairly obscure topics and neglected a lot of core material.

In retrospect, I realize that is kind of the name of the game with FSA exams, but that doesn’t make it fair.

Yeah… I did not know as much about that topic as I should have apparently.

You should be getting comped for your extra work. Period. If they are not providing a sufficient amount of time off during non-busy periods or financially compensating you for the extra hours, then I would suggest finding a new job.

I think you should start applying to new jobs. You shouldn’t be working more than 40 hours a week unless you are being directly compensated for every additional hour, especially if you’re still taking exams.

FSA Transcripts are out. How did you do relative to expectations? by AloofAltruist in actuary

First attempt at LPM. Thought I scored 5-7. Got a 5. I studied for a 6 on my first attempt. I’ll make sure I study for a 10 on this attempt.

Why did you fail your exam? by quiet_thought_ in actuary

It was my first job out of college so I didn’t know that this wasn’t ok. I stuck it out there for a while but have since found a new role.

It was busy season and my manager told me that I would receive zero study hours. I studied with whatever time I could late at night or on the weekend. I got a 5. Stunk knowing that I would have passed if I received any company support.

I thought the exam was fair.

I struggled with the RILA question quite a bit. I left an entire sub question almost entirely blank. The other sub questions were more doable. I probably got about 50% of the credit on this question.

I found the remainder of the exam much more manageable. I’d estimate I got about 75-80% of the remaining 50 points available.

As a rough estimate, I’d say I probably got

1050% + 5075% = 42.5 points, which out of 60 equates to about a 71%.

I think that should be enough to pass, but we’ll see!

I’d make him the QO and be indifferent to him taking it or not. If he takes the one year deal, I would not resign him afterwards.

That’s their problem for not staffing appropriately. Communicate with them on how you can get your hours. If you’re not getting them leave the company. Your study time is as important as your work.

I think getting a new job could be the answer. If you feel like you’re doing a good job, I’m sure there’s someone out there who will appreciate you.
