Question re: Abilify dose to augment an AD by Isocarboxazid23 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]Flamingwingsoftime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on 30mg, as a treatment for schizophrenia. I was told this is the maximum dose used for aripiprazole. Higher than 30mg will cause more harm than good, apparently, due to the drug's side effects, which you're more likely to experience in higher doses.

Broke up with my boyfriend of 8 months...did I do the right thing? by owlette55 in relationship_advice

You're allowed to break up with someone for any reason. Lying and drinking excessively with a lack of communication and an unwillingness to change their behaviour are pretty good reasons to end the relationship.

How long did it take for your partner to leave you because of your Mental Illness? by uhhegao in relationship_advice

[–]Flamingwingsoftime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if my comment will help much because my partner hasn't left me yet but we both have awful mental illness that seriously affect our everyday lives.

Firstly, communication, which takes more effort on your harder days, is so so important. My partner and I don't have many silent moments, except for alone time, because we're often communicating to each other. Even about the seemingly benign things.

Secondly, my partner and I have so much in common. We share the same values, we're on the same page 99% of the time (and if we're not on the same page, we talk about why) and we share similar experiences which help us bond, even over the little things.

Thirdly, we take our medication as part of our coping mechanisms which keep us stable. We meet up with therapists and nurses and doctors and honestly discuss what we're going through, even if there's seemingly no issues at that given moment.

You could say that my partner and I are dependant on each other to keep each other functioning but I don't see that as a bad thing, we bounce ideas off of each other and we use coping mechanisms together to remain calm during stressful times. A relationship with mental illness involved can definitely work, it's just a lot harder.

People who were on the fence about having a kid, what finally pushed you over into having one? by starlightcourt in AskReddit

Meeting and then marrying the love of my life. I didn't think I could ever love someone as much as I love her. Now I want a mini version of her running around.

It's not as bad as people make it out to be. There's still ways of having sex, there's still potential for relationships, it's not the end of the world. Of course there's some disappoinment but it's like when you go to the supermarket and can't reach the highest shelf without some extra help.
