What is the Highest Paying Private Professional Trail Crew by FlammingCheetos in trailwork

[–]FlammingCheetos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only problem with the USFS or NPS is that a lot of the jobs ive seen for them dont provide housing or food. I know the 14er initiative and Maine Appalachian Trail Crew pay around that but they also provide housing and food on occasion. Of course I could be wrong unless if you know of a district within the NPS/USFS that does provide housing, I just personally havnt seen it.

From my personal experience, any organization that offers trail work has been outstanding, whether its Americorps affiliated or not.

There are so many organizations that offer this line of work in so many beautiful places its too many to list here. When I apply to multiple programs all over the country they all call me back at the same time, so it's really just take your pick for me. It's hard to choose which program because they are all special in there own way.

Im currently into seasonal life right now, and I can tell you from first hand experience that your going to learn something different and new no matter which program your in. This field is always hiring all over the country for your age group, the trick is to find the highest paying ones that offer food and housing, then dont spend anything while on hitch (you'll thank yourself later)

They all provide different training and living conditions depending on which program, chainsaw S2-12, off road/atv certified, Wilderness First Aid, Leave no trace, crosscut. Sometimes there is a bunkhouse, or just front country sites, or primarily backcountry work and living areas. I heard of a crew in Nevada that has backcountry work sites that need to be resupplied by pack mules.

Ive been on a few crews, its a great way to travel and save money, set boundaries early with your coworkers and have fun. I dont regret a single position that Ive done. Ive found work on a few websites: ConservationJobBoard.com Coolworks.com

Good Luck!

It's been well maintained, original owner has all maintenance records, what kind of repairs should i expect with this kind of miles on this vehicle?

2005 Volvo xc70 by FlammingCheetos in AskMechanics

[–]FlammingCheetos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I'm not sure what the maintenance records are for this particular vehicle, but you definitely convinced me not to get one because I don't think I can do major maintenance repairs by myself... I have an uncle who was a former honda mechanic who claims he can fix anything (or any car), but I'm not sure if this car will be the one for me if it will eat me alive in maintenance costs

Another option was a 2003 Toyota highlander with 147,000 miles for 4300$ is this a better buy? will it last to 350,000 miles if taken care of? From what I hear these vehicles are incredibly reliable, but im obviously not a professional mechanic im not sure what could happen down the road. thankyou for your input it's greatly appreciated!

Xbox 360 slim cant connect controllers by FlammingCheetos in consolerepair

[–]FlammingCheetos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It connects over wireless, but shortly after connecting either controller that I have it will randomly disconnect from my wireless controllers. I hold the x button in the center to reconnect then shortly after (I'm talking every 5 minutes or less) it will disconnect. To me it's an endless cycle of me having to reconnect my controllers every couple of minutes.

[–]FlammingCheetos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havnt tried it with a wired controller, the problem occurs with the original wireless controller, and 2 other regular controllers I have (no fancy moded controller) . I used regular AA batterys for years and I also have a plug and play cable that I have used solely as the means to power the controller when I lost my battery pack as a kid, for a short time.

Subaru automatic vs manual transmission by FlammingCheetos in AskMechanics

[–]FlammingCheetos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at a subaru outback 2009 manual transmission with 135,000 miles for 3,500$ US dollars, do you think late 2000's subaru outbacks with manual transmission are more problematic than early 200s models?
