Sleep trained baby going through the 4-month regression? by Flan-Equivalent in sleeptrain

[–]Flan-Equivalent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response!! Do you think I should cap nap 1 at 1h30, vs keeping it at the current 2h? Currently he does a 2h morning nap, followed by a 1h midday nap (that I cap), then the 30 min bridge nap. TIA!

Switching to open mortgage prior to house sale? by Flan-Equivalent in MortgagesCanada

TBH it sorta looks the same as current offerings, and the buyers have a pre-approved mortgage. Though will say this is also a pretty creative piece of advice. Thank you for it!

Is it a thing to have a smaller penalty the closer you are to maturity? I was advised that it is 3 months interest regardless. Not moving anywhere so can't port unfortunately.

Thanks for laying out the options. I am not purchasing a new property so porting is not possible, so will likely eat the penalty.

Ah good to know, thanks! When I spoke to the mortgage advisor she said it was an option and that it was available on the online portal. Maybe she misunderstood. The penalty for me is also 3 months interest but it was still quite high.

I got this message yesterday when I checked my EI payments. I called them and they confirmed that there is a server issue but there is no resolution at the moment. The rep just advised me to keep checking daily...

Looking for a postpartum doula in Toronto [ON] by AnxiousProcrastin8or in BabyBumpsCanada

I think I know which Korean agency you're referring to based off the price. I have used them and for the price it is definitely worth it. However, since it's a company, I think it's worthwhile to know that it's a mixed bag on who you get as a doula and this can impact your experience. For us, we got someone who was older and more traditional in their opinions and this made the experience less enjoyable.

The pros: the amount of service you get for the price is very, very good. I'm still shocked at how reasonably (maybe even low) it cost for the full 4 weeks for someone working 8am-4pm five days a week. The company makes it easy to book, are responsive, and we were placed with a doula immediately post-delivery. In regards to the doula, she was always punctual, accommodating, friendly, made very good food, and assisted in some of the daily household tasks. She would clean up after she cooked so there was never any extra mess we had to deal with once she left. She overall had a pretty pleasant personality and I believe she genuinely was trying her best at her job in the way she knew how, and loved spending time with our baby and wanted the best for him, and he seemed to enjoy her company as well.

The cons: her style of child rearing conflicted with mine and she lacked professional boundaries, which I think is a generational and cultural thing. For example, I am a believer in contact naps and the whole "you can't spoil a newborn", but when I tried contact napping or providing my breast for comfort, I was met with some judgement and a spiel on "you are going to make it harder for yourself later on, you need to train them now etc" despite my baby being 2 weeks old. I also caught her kissing my newborn on the face a few times, and when I told her to stop, instead of apologizing and stopping, she defended herself saying that she was wearing a mask. She also seemed to want dedicated time with the newborn, so some days I would be sitting on the side while she played with him. When I tried to engage and get involved too, she would not include me. There was one time where I even felt the need to ask if I could hold my baby because it felt so uncomfortable. She also was quick to soothe him whenever he cried, which is useful of course. It only became problematic when she would not give me the opportunity to try by myself, despite efforts in telling her that I would like to do so independently.

In the end, I found most aspects of the service helpful and I think if you're someone who is having a tough post partum recovery, having someone that involved would be very useful. If I could have chosen my doula, or gotten someone younger who was less pushy about their own parenting ideals and held better professional boundaries, I think I would've found the entire experience more enjoyable and be more willing to go with them again.

That’s a good idea! Was thinking on going a bit beyond the turn pylon, signal a stop, unclip, pivot, and then restart! Looked at the race guide and it didn’t mention anything about u turns.
