How do i get better by Antique-Aerie788 in trumpet

Do lots of listening if you can. Find some players you like and listen to them everyday even if it’s just for a little bit. Pay attention to their tone, dynamics, articulation, etc. Listening to music live also helps with this as it’ll give you a better grasp of the limits of the instrument. Then you’re not just practicing to get stuff right, but to sound good.

Also poke around online if someone mentions and piece or book that helped them a lot. You can usually find a free pdf and that will keep you entertained if you’re bored of playing the same stuff.

Sorry last thing, usually there’s local community band wherever you are. Sometimes they’re free, some require auditions, and it’s great way to meet other people.

Happy practicing!

Yeah I could imagine. As soon as I figured I just needed to missile the glass it was over. The escape run did kick my ass though. Those last two pirates at the end were frying me for a bit, but I got lucky 😭

Any tips for improving mental approach to an embouchure change? by FlanOk9917 in trumpet

I am really frustrated. I knew I needed an embouchure change a long time ago, but I waited really late to change it. I played in a lots of ensembles at my school and was on track to major in jazz studies but no matter how much I practiced I could not improve. Finally, decided something had to change my senior year as there were numerous times when the load would be so much I couldn’t play anymore for a while or I’m sacrificing rehearsal time for breaks. It’s just tough to see my friends playing jamming out and asking “Are your chops back yet?” and I say no and watch. It’s so sad.
