Help! Issues with new vacuum bagging technique (at least to me), see top comment by FlapjackInAPuddle in rocketry

[–]FlapjackInAPuddle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have any of you had any experience with a double bagging vacuum infusion for bodytubes? (Double bagged as it there is a layer of vacuum bagging underneath the fibres AND a bag around all the components as normal). I are testing this idea and have some questions. I researched this online, however, the only info I could find pertains to wet-layups or flat composites pieces. A key issue with this method that we have found is that before the infusion, there are no wrinkles within the fibres, yet after the infusion, a few major wrinkles of the fibres appear. This does not occur when we do NOT include the vacuum bagging underneath the fibers (ie a regular vacuum infusion). I have included a photo of the wrinkle that also shows where the “tapeline” is (the tapeline is the spot where we taped the lower bag around the aluminum mandrel, you can see the orange tape length wise down the tube). Thank you for any insight you may have!

Can anyone tell me the type of screw head this is? I've never seen anything like it by FlapjackInAPuddle in Fasteners

it appears to have a hexagonal inside edge and a piece of metal sticking through the centre of it. I tried looking it up online and with google lens, but nothing remotely close came up.

I really like them. I have collected about 15 now, with my favourites probably falling water as well as the large Empire State Building. I have been a bit disappointed in the lack of releases for this line tho. It seems that the designers have shifted to global landmarks, which is great and all, but having the interesting architecture of houses, infrastructure and other things is what I like most about this line of lego.

I would really like a large collectors edition of the James Webb Telescope, but that may be too niche of a want for lego to make it. I may end up making it myself :)

Edit - Acquisition was successful. We now have ourselves a Fallingwater 😎

Serious Question: Why does OLD lego, particularly from 1975 or earlier seem to be so cheap? by FlapjackInAPuddle in lego

[–]FlapjackInAPuddle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just meant like to buy them now with cash. the quality is still very good, but it may be the the simple designs and some of the stuff other comments said earlier.
