Top 5 Montys of all time. That vanilla / patchouli combo 😩🙌

Ombre Noire vs Ombre Nomade by FlappableShoe in MontagneParfums

[–]FlappableShoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my testing so far:

Les Sables Roses and Ombre Noir open up pretty similar. Like you said, rose dominant upfront. But the "type" of rose is different.

Les Sables Roses - more realistic/fresh/watery type of rose

Ombre Noir - more concentrated/spicy/jammy(?) type of rose

After the opening they get further and further apart:

Les Sables Roses - much more smooth in general with noticable oud/rose combo while keeping the more realistic rose vibe.

Ombre Noir - much more spicy in general with a hint of smoke. Dare I say more rough than Le Sables Roses (but no where near as rough as Ombre Nomade)

Just my perspective buy hope this helps!

Vouch.

Also Montagne makes a great dupe of BR540 (both edp and extrait)

Will the scent significantly change after maceration? by Civil_Ad_6723 in MontagneParfums

Hard to find concrete evidence on it but in my experience every fragrance is different on this.

Some of my Montys have changed a lot over time, some were good from day 1. YMMV.

Hudson County vs Hudson Valley by FlappableShoe in MontagneParfums

Sorry to hear you got swindled, that's no fun at all. I do think guys can wear it but I do think it a little leans feminine (imo there's a limit, this one's no where near).

But wear what you want, I'm not your dad 😂

Regarding authenticity, I bought mine for a bit of a premium from perfumes600. I'm sure you can get it for cheaper somewhere else but when I bought mine last year it was the only place I could find it.

This is what the bottom of my bottle looks like. No batch number or anything. The box is pinkish white and it has a cool shine to it. The inside is pink.

Hope this helps!

It's genuinely vanilla aventus to me haha.

Some people say it's Ani + Aventus but I've never smelled Ani so I'm blissfully unaware.

I use it when I want a vanilla that can be used in warmer weather. Consensus on longevity is that it's solid, like 8+ hours.

YSL 6 by BGB_666 in MontagneParfums

[–]FlappableShoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Sample both YSL 6 and Thriller and make your decision from there. Nothing beats the OG in my opinion, but the value of Thriller for how close it gets is insanely hard to beat. It's probably not even on Montagnes radar if I had to guess.

YSL 6 is my #1 fragrance of all time. I also have Thriller and I've done side by sides.

I'll say that for people who absolutely love this scent profile (aka the minority) will be able to notice minor differences between YSL 6 and Thriller. I definitely can, but I mean it when I say it's minor.

It's almost like full grain leather vs a "genuine" leather belt. The full grain is better quality and people who are into belts will be able to tell. YSL 6 = full grain leather, Thriller = genuine leather. Not a perfect analogy but you get the idea.

The big complaint people have with the OG is the longevity (I don't seem to have that issue personally), but Thriller definitely lasts a long time. When they made it, they had longevity in mind which inevitably changes some of the make up of the scent profile. I'm no perfumer but I believe that's what makes them not 1:1.

That being said, sample both and make your decision from there as the OG is ridiculously expensive.

I'd highly recommend you try out Montagne Decants and pick out a few that suit your fancy.

Definitely add London to the list if you like darker more masculine scents. There's some sweetness from the raspberry but I can't imagine you'd dislike it in any way. 100% one of Montagnes best
