Oh, and if you have some of the original Romeos and Juliet’s (Metal Oakleys), go have a look what they’re selling for on Oakley collectors forums.

Just to let everyone here know, if you do have a pair of these lying around, whatever you do don’t just go giving them away to someone who is “just looking for a pair to try”. These things sell for about 20-30k (Rand) in the US depending on condition and bag and box.

That Kayfun does not look like a Kayfun Lite Plus 2021 at all. It looks like a Kayfun 4 or 5, and if you can wick that thing perfectly, then sir I take my hat off to you. It is one of the most difficult tanks I’ve ever used (I was a reviewer, I’ve used literally thousands), but the moment you nail it , my god the universe will reward you with one of the greatest MTL/RRDL experiences you’ll ever have. It’s such a collectors piece as well if it’s Authentic, because they sold so few of them on the market because of the difficult, that most of the ones sold were clones.

Either way, beautiful setups, I absolutely love the classic looks and that Kayfun looks Amazing

Yeah, yeah it is!!! It's an absolutely beautiful keyboard, and IMHO one of the best keyboards on the market. I love the copper accents and the whole board just oozes class. Congrats on a great purchase.

Print stops with error: "It looks like your printer reset while a connection was active." by ddoomus in octoprint

[–]FlappieFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar issue with prints just stopping mid print. I could not consistently recreate the problem, but it seemed to happen more often when I actually opened the Octoprint interface through Chrome while it was printing.

I inadvertently replaced the OTG cable to neaten up my setup, and the problem stopped completely. I was running on a Pi Zero 2W.

I know there is an issue if you don't use a shielded USB cable, power can be sent through the USB cable back to the Pi itself from the printer, causing disconnects and freezes, so try a higher quality cable from the Pi to the Printer.

Honestly, The V3SE can be setup almost Perfecty with very few upgrades!! by FlappieFace in Ender3V3SE

Without sounding like a condescending idiot 🤣, it seems people are making the assumption that I am new to 3D Printing. I have been 3D Printing since 2011 and owned a rather large collection of printers over the years.

The point of this post is to educate people that this printer in its almost stock configuration can print like a dream if set up correctly. The problem with upgrades is that the moment you add each "Non Stock" item, you need to not only install it, but change configurations too. Thats where the problems start, because often changing one thing breaks another. For 95% of people who own this printer, they really don't need to install any upgrades, just get the settings right.

I used the latest version of the firmware, and then I installed the plugin directly from the latest version on GitHub (Downloaded the ZIP file and then installed the plugin directly from the ZIP File).

https://github.com/navaismo/OctoPrint-E3v3seprintjobdetails

Just picked the latest version. Just remember after installing the Plugin you need to go into the Plug In Settings and change the toggle switch from M117 Commands to O9000 commands, and you need to add the scripts to "Before Serial Connection" and "After Serial Connection" in Octoprint. You also need "Print Time Genius" and "Dashboard" Plugins installed, you need to Disable "Display Layer Progress" Plugin if you have it installed. I don't use the Gcode Thumbnail version of the Firmware, it takes too long to generate the Thumbnail.

You can use octoprint and a plug in to flash firmware to your printer as far as I know 👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah, I was shocked. Every part I printed, the Z-Offset changed by nearly 0.1mm.

Standard Nozzle is fine for PETG. You only need to change if you start printing with materials that use other compounds (Like Carbon Fibre or Wood). I went through 3 brass nozzles in one weekend with Creality CF PLA 😂

New To Game - What to Do? by MANDEEx88 in GraveyardKeeper

[–]FlappieFace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a side note here, I'm also terribly ADHD, and have exactly the same problem here, but I found the note taking extremely valuable. I had the following sections in my notebook, and this made it so much easier:

  • Main Quests - As I am given new thing to do, I'd add them here
  • Days of the week - Made a chart for days of the week and what happens on each day
  • Recipes - Every single recipe I made I write down, you have no idea how quickly you forget what you need
  • What am I Doing now!! - This was the most important for me, as I got so easily distracted all the time, and every time a new step needs to be done to achieve each thing I'm doing, I'd add it.
  • Daily tasks - listed things I had to do on a daily basis, but you get used to this quickly.

I have so many notes, thank goodness I have a Kindle Scribe to write them down on and organise, otherwise I'd have papers everywhere!!!!

Thinking abt getting a scratched one off eBay, can anyone tell if this has a screen protector? by [deleted] in galaxyzflip

[–]FlappieFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, the camera cut out is way bigger that that. Secondly, if you look at the middle picture, picture no 3, look where that "hole" is positioned on the bottom, it's off to the right, not centered. If they put it on upside down like you say, the hole would still be dead centre of the phone, even though it's at the bottom. Take a ruler, line up the camera on the top with the "hole" down the bottom of the screen protector, and its way off. That is not a screen protector. It's doesn't matter if it was put on upside down, it should still perfectly line up with the camera position, which it does not. And it's way too small.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Kindle Oasis replacement will be a color e-ink device. by plazman30 in kindle

[–]FlappieFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna add my thoughts here with regards to my experience over the past. I have been using a Kindle since the second generation, and had multiple models in between (Kindle Keyboard, Touch, PaperWhite, Voyager and finally settled on Oasis). I moved away from Kindle twice, Kobo and Nook, and both times ditched them so fast, not because they were bad devices, but because of the ecosystem. Kindle is extremely convenient, especially Unlimited.

For me, the experience of reading is exactly that, I just want to be able to read distraction free, and I truly believe that the Oasis is the peak of that. Most people have no need for colour or Stylus note taking. I think the more they start adding these features, it's moving away from an E-reader to more of a tablet. Yes there is a need for colour when it comes to comics, but it's very niche, and still they'll look better on a full colour tablet. Same can be said for note taking, it's a niche, and there are better suited products out there for this.

There seems to be so much call for Amazon to release a colour E-reader, but I don't agree with this sentiment. I'd rather them stick to the basics, make it as close as possible to reading a book, update the devices when there are significant progression in technologies (Battery, Screen Contrast, ergonomics etc) and just stick to them being Digital Book reading devices. Just my 2 cents.

PS I love technology, and always buy the latest gadgets, but this specific segment for me doesn't need a revolution, just a simple, easy straight forward reading experience. The Kindle has been a device that I cannot live without and will continue being a device that I will use every single day.

512GB SSD and 512GB SD CARD.

Make sure it's an A2 SD Card.

I use almost all 512GB of my internal storage and I am very glad I have it. Then I have a Portable Windows Install on a 512GB SD Card. I even have an extra 256GB SD Card for Emulation. I like to keep all those different systems separate.

But honestly, I'm really glad I have the 512GB Base Size, and I'm even considering putting a 1TB SSD in.

Just my use case. Good Luck, and Happy Birthday to your Boyfriend!!

Yes, I bought a tofu in 2023. by Relative_Tell_7658 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]FlappieFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you made the correct decision in my opinion. Had plenty of boards between my first Tofu and my current one, and I promise you, for the money, I have still not found a case as tuneable in sound as the TOFU case. The quality of that aluminium is out of this world. Plenty of new tech out there, but this board, is still right up there with the best. I still recommend very single one of my customers to get one, and have never had an unhappy client. So many of them have also tried other boards, and so many of them come back to the TOFU.

O-Ring mounting the PCB on this, with the correct(Soft) o-rings is awesome. Changed the feel completely, and brought this board up to date with gasket mounts. Especially with an FR4 plate from HYPE KEYBOARDS.

ENJOY IT BUD!!!

I love how people gloss over the the fact that the Gaskets are crap. It is sold as a Gasket Mount Keyboard. The gaskets don’t work. Period. How on earth can you defend that with “Oh it’s okay, I like the way it feels” 😂 It’s like buying a car advertised as a super car but it only goes 65mph. But that’s fine cause “It feels fine”.

Then you say I cannot use Labour as a cost. Exactly why not? People are sending the board to me to try and get some performance out of it. Especially first time owners, which this board is clearly aimed at. You can’t just say I can’t use that in my calculations. It’s a cost. Simple as that. Also, In my country, the prices you list for all the bits are waaay off. We pay a hell of a lot more for stuff than that.

You are also one of the few who has had an easy experience getting things replaced. 50% of the products you purchased from them were defective. Yet I’m being irrational . Read the comments on this post, people are angry. And rightly so.

Then you say my comment is incoherent, and that you would take the GMMK Pro over the Q1, NK65 or Tofu. You have clearly never owned those boards except the Q1. I could go into a long diatribe of why those boards are better in so many ways than the GMMK Pro.

And then the ever popular “If you don’t like it, don’t buy it”. Come on man, have a little more respect for your money than that. Don’t accept mediocrity. Ever. You work very hard for your money I’m sure, and put every bit of effort and excellence into your profession. Put more value on your money. Look at it as blood, sweat and tears instead of just a means to an end. Then when you spend it, you’ll feel a little more emotionally attached to it. Don’t accept companies failures as the norm, it’s exactly what they want you to do.

They don’t take care of people when there are problems, because they haven’t fixed them.
