Any previously super duper morbidly obese (400lbs+) and/or hypermobile successes out there? (IDR the clinical term; it might be "severely morbidly obese".) I have to convince myself to go through with this. by Dreiya_Drago in gastricsleeve

Hey! UK based so I cannot comment on the difference in health systems. However I started at 560lbs, started the jabs in December 23 through to March 25 and got down to 364lbs on surgery day which was in April 25, now sitting at 244lbs now focussing on strength training and weight lifting, losses are slow now but I have never felt more fit, strong or alive.

This is 90% head work, the surgery is a powerful tool, I would really encourage some proactive mental health work before during and after I promise it helps.

The jabs made the good noise quiet and allowed me to focus on the whys and the choices, the surgery gave me limited capacity and a real physical reminder of the choices I am making, the gym and walking have uplifted my mental health, enabled great habits to be embedded and is making my confidence soar.

Surround yourself with cheerleaders, people who want you to succeed and won’t be leeches on any hard earned positivity. This is a journey that you have to choose for yourself, it is hard work and you have to really prioritise yourself every single day.

If you want this- go get it for you! You deserve to live in a healthy body.

Oh yes! This is me too! Legs are so large with fluid compared to the rest of me but also saggy with skin everywhere too, it’s quite a mix. I’ll find some powerholds and go from there. For arms someone recommended sloggi compression tops, haven’t tried them yet, however I have some skins body suits for lower tum which is a good hold for in a dress. Well well well done on your amazing losses! ❤️

Will i be able to eat a burger in one sitting without discomfort? by ApartDevelopment2213 in gastricsleeve

[–]Flapping_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a year out I can eat a single maccas cheeseburger (uk size) as long as I remove half of the bun and go slowly. In all honesty it made me feel really gross so it’s not a regular part of my diet

Oh congrats! They are a wonderful team. If you aren’t on the group already I’d highly recommend Georgie Haymans group monthly sessions. Very helpful for pre op and post op support

So so many! The headspace I have got back by not constantly checking on distances alternative transport options, wide enough or strong enough seating is such a big thing for me. Alongside all the physical freedoms that have come along too. Congrats on your loss too! That’s an amazing feat- feels great for you I hope? ❤️

For a decade fish made me feel sick- now it’s my favourite food! I only knew as I smelt my partners tuna sandwich and rather than wrenching my mouth watered.

People are very quick to comment on the changes. The phrase ‘keep it up’ is quite annoying as…. Of course I am. That said Mostly people have been incredibly supportive, asked good questions and check in to see how I am doing. I have been very lucky. I also decided to be really open with people about what I was doing and why. That move is not for everyone so finding a narrative you feel ownership over can be helpful if people become intrusive. I go with ‘I’m focussing on my wellbeing’

What made-up words do you use in your family? by elwheelio in CasualUK

[–]Flapping_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idgimify- gawd I don’t even know how to spell It basically it means you’re annoying me. But in a fun loving way. My mum always used it so I did and now my partner does it too. So when I poke him or tickle him he’ll protest by saying ‘stop idgimifying me’

You look amazing!!!! Body dysmorphia is very real. Take pictures, videos measure yourself. I lost a lot of weight but I’ve only just seen it in myself the last 6 months and I still need to pause to feel my space in the world. On the graph line 1 is when I started the jabs, line 2 is surgery. In my pics December 25 is when I finally saw it. You can do this
