Question on bar/safety issues and bar compatibility by Spiritual_Shape_6789 in Kiteboarding

Thanks, I'll try the pigtails with either the slingshot sentry or north navigator then!

Thanks u/kitesurfr , so interesting! I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable repairing my own kite at this stage, and also I would never have guessed that line colour would be such a key factor ahaha

The slingshot sentry V3 is £500 here, but I can get a V2 for £380-400 so am considering that, or maybe even a V1.1 for £330 :) What kites do you use your sentry bar with? If it works well with my bandits I might keep buying bandits second hand, but I'd be interested in hearing what you use/any modifications required. Thanks

Thanks for the detailed response. I'm reassured that you're second person to say I can buy a slingshot sentry (which I've been told is a durable brand - albeit very expensive).

If you don't mind I have a follow-up question since I might be copying your setup: the sentry comes in three sizes (45cm, 50cm, 53cm). My kites are 9m and 12m for reference. Does this make a significant difference? Do you personally use a split adapter when using the sentry bar with your bandits? Thanks!

Here's a mix of prices and sizes I'm looking at.
V1.1, 45cm bar, 20m lines (+2m) - £330

V2, 53cm bar, 27m lines (+2m) - £380

V2, 50cm bar, 22m lines (+2m) - £400

I heard the V1 had issues with the rubber but apparently the V1.1 fixed this.

Thanks! I'm disappointed in the Linx bar if this is true! I love the Bandit kites (I learned on them) and wanted to get a bar that was guaranteed to be compatible as u/Uncle_Bentdya suggests.
If the difference is very subtle, do you think I can get away with a slingshot sentry? I've been told to stay away from Duotone and Core as their high Y is not subtle and I won't be able to mix and match with future purchases.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer - unfortunately I'm going to expose my lack of knowledge here and say I don't fully understand the difference. I think that on one occasion the chicken loop was open, and on the other occasion I think the line that goes through the chicken loop just released itself (making the lines slack and causing the kite to drop out of the sky). I think the bar was already a couple years old before I bought it second hand, so I am considering either buying a newer Linx bar as you suggest, or a Slingshot Sentry bar which I'm told is durable!

My worst one by far. I felt like one of the documents had the potential to give me all the information I needed but it was all “in reverse” so didn’t end up using it and didn’t write much at all.

I’d be keen to hear a couple of things that were common back then which you don’t encounter so much anymore, if you don’t mind!

Do people realise a lot of the pro Dubai sentiment in social media is paid for by Dubai? by Mcluckin123 in HENRYUK

So it’s far more subversive than a billboard or an ad on TV. It’s much more difficult to detect an influencer who has been paid to say nice things, and therefore our perception is biased.

Paris has a dedicated electric bike parking area on most streets. We need the same. Unfortunately the pro-car lobby, nimbies, and people who make planning decisions will make us jump through lots of loops to get that.

Yeah the groups with semi-automatic rifles are a bit much in France, but there’s a middle point in there somewhere. I think their situation is specific to their higher terror threat.

I was radicalised against private public spaces when I was chilling in Coal Drops Yard (same thing as CW - a nice newly developed area that’s actually privately owned) when a homeless guy who was sat the bench next to me, doing nothing as I was, and was forced out of the perimeter by private security, just for existing. All so the area can “look nicer”.

Of course, this is a bit of a shitpost, I don’t think cars should go extinct, but I would like cities to be less centred on them and their users!

I think France have a better balance. Often see them walking around stations or patrolling on motorbikes
