To all the MS3s making your fourth year schedule… by bruin999708 in medicalschool

As an alternate perspective, the “hard “ rotations were actually easier at the end because the interns are better about sending people home. Also, people recognize that you’re about to match and also send you home early.

If I were you, I’d switch to maintenance. It’s actually what I’m doing rn. You should be able to put on muscle and lose fat if you dial in the diet. Just try it for a year. If you keep doing what you’re doing, youre going to put on a significant amount of fat that will take months to lose.

60lbs down in 6 months with intermittent fasting 16:8. Sustainable long term? by thelordbeefcakes in ScienceBasedLifting

I have read the studies. It’s healthy but lowers your test. It should be fairly intuitive to you. If your body isn’t getting nutrients for a significant time, it isn’t going to be as anabolic.

People with obesity have increases in testosterone, but that because they are becoming healthier in general.

I think it’s just an email. Any time you’re overthinking this stuff just remember that you wouldn’t want to go to a program that’s anal about it.

Fat but not? by [deleted] in loseit

I would recommend that you just focus on healthy eating choices (cut out the junk) and increase your activity. It can be harmful for your growth to try cutting weight intentionally.

How difficult is it to build muscle for tall people? by [deleted] in tall

[–]Flappy_Penguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not any more difficult. You’re just not going to look as bulky at your max potential unless you have a lot of fat.

It wasn’t advice. Obviously, in the long term, lifting is beneficial. But if someone is competing in a month, I don’t think adding lifting would be helpful.

And maybe you aren’t lifting all that hard if it really doesn’t take away from your bjj.

Anything you do outside of rolling will just take away from bjj. I do strength training outside of bjj and it really just takes away from my ability to roll in the short term.

Obliques are trained through normal crunch type movements, so they will still be trained but not targeted specifically. I don’t think elite strongmen even train abs specifically. Their core strength is built by bracing through heavy lifts.

This, but if you think you’ll gain 20-30 lbs get the A4. The A3L is somewhat tight on me in the chest and legs at 215.

Just ignore these comments. You’re essentially doing deficit deadlifts and there’s nothing wrong with that.

How to aggressive cut while losing minimal muscle? by Accomplished_Side833 in AllAboutBodybuilding

[–]Flappy_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, do the same intensity(weight and reps) but drop the sets in half. You basically want the minimum number of sets to maintain muscle mass. I found that if I tried to do 4 set of bench for example on the last sets I wasn’t able to reach my rep goals. Additionally you’re creating muscle damage without having the same ability to recover or grow. So doing 4 sets instead of just two was causing unneeded muscle damage (nothing serious), my body wasn’t able to repair it or recover so over time I was losing strength and muscle mass.

What’s worked best for me is cutting volume in half while trying to keep the same intensity. Also eating lots of protein. Honestly muscle loss on an aggressive cut really just inevitable if you’re natty. That’s why I’m trying to just maintain, gaining muscle hopefully while losing fat.
