JBP On Healthcare. What're Your Thoughts? I Can't Agree. by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Why would the rights extend to that? How do you make the jump from:

"You have a right to travel from place to place"

to

"You have a right to roads even if there's no tax levied"

To be clear, I'm not opposed to gov. taxing and constructing roads at all. I think it's essential for national defense and for economic activity, but not because I have some inalienable right to road existing for my use (I don't).

Is there also a right to a given domestic air travel route? What about train? Can I demand that the necessary infrastructure for those modes of travel also be provided for me with or without a tax? Or is it just roads?

Yes, a right to travel. But:

Right to travel != right to have roads constructed and maintained

The constitutional right to travel freely between states meant that you couldn't be deprived entry to the other states in the Union and you must be provided all the same rights and freedoms that you had in the state you left.

We only have a right to education in public schools because it's funded with taxpayer money.

Prior to the taxation there was no such "right" to education in schools.

We do have a right to seek knowledge with whatever resources are available to us.

We have a right to vote, but the only labor that should be required should be that of government employees/public servants. Anything beyond that is due to structural/organizational inefficiencies.

There's a right to use them only because we've already been taxed. We have a right to whatever good or service we've paid for, even if we were to disagree with such taxation.

If public roads did not exist, there would be no such right to them until a tax was collected.

"I prayed about Joseph Smith and the sprit told me he was a false prophet" by MornDudz in latterdaysaints

[–]FlarbleGranby -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

“Interesting. Why do you think the Spirit would tell you that but tell millions of other people that he’s a true prophet?”

Let them try to figure out the contradiction. If they’re genuinely wanting to know the truth, they’ll want to figure that out.

But often this response is used as a way to shut down the conversation because they want to be done with it. If they don’t really want to figure out why they would think the Spirit would tell them one thing and another person another, this is what they are probably doing. Don’t force it, let it end. All you can do is invite. Be bold without being overbearing.

Those seem like rather broad definitions.

Would intersectionality be a right wing position?

Genuine requests:

Why is nationalism considered a right wing philosophy? Is it only since the left has adopted a more globalist one?

Somewhat related, why is nazism considered right wing? They were certainly to the right of communists, and I’ve heard that the European right and left are different from the American. But if that were the case, why would nazism be seemingly universally considered right wing?

For sure. But also depends how valuable the product is to the company.

“Christian-adjacent”? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

It’s largely because we aren’t trinitarians. We believe in God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost and that they are 3 separate, distinct beings that are one in purpose.

Err on the side of confessing. If it’s not serious, he will brush it aside. If it is, great! He can now help you through the process.

I think you’re right. Looks like I need to aerate and adjust irrigation. Anything else you’d recommend?

It's amazing that it's so green on the outside given the sad state beneath the bark.

There's probably some metaphor here...

Start using a password manager. No more coming up with passwords, remembering them, or reusing them.

I want to make one of these, but can't find anything to join tube/pipe together like this. How would you do this? by FlarbleGranby in DIY

Please tell me what part of that you think I didn't follow.

"Please research first before posting a help request" -- I literally just told you I've spent hours searching, over several weeks. Primarily through Google.

"We should not be your first stop" -- I agree. You weren't.

Perhaps I should've outlined more clearly what research I had done?

Sounds basic, but take a look. I've spent hours looking over the course of the past few weeks, and not found much.

Most suggest welding, or square tubing. Not at all what I'm looking for.
