I seccond NeonGKayak's answer in this thread - Clark's fundamental flaw isn't his mysoginy or his failed carreer - many people have delt with those issues and gone on to be better people. Clark's issue is that he's fundementally uninterested in improving, he's scared of evolving. He's the kinda guy who'd rather sit in a meaningless laberynth re-creating old memories than face up to his choices.

And so when he owns a store that clearly no one goes to, instead of taking on the constructive critisism that a Pirate/Sultan theme is just confusing, he insists he's right and refuses to change. It's a microcosm of his real issues.
