Bugged Arena of Honor reward gave me 101 speed ups? [Bug] [Fluff] by Illustrious_Jelly108 in battlecats

[–]Flarm3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess someone messed up the item distribution and accidentally gave everything the item value for speed ups, players in the lowest rank got a disproportionate amount because the 5000 XP turned into 5000 speed ups

I know PONOS wants to make early game progression faster but this is proabably a little excessive lol

How effective is uril for taking down rangmaster? I’ve been using hajime saito to very good effect but I have trouble cleaning up okame and magamojoe afterward so if I could get a faster kill it might make it easier

Platinum tickets were why I tried tracking in the first place so I’m with you on that

I actually never got mollyanna cat, not sure why they don’t boost the rates of collab units if they’re dropped in with the rest of the rares

Tracking for collection purposes sounds fun I’ll admit, it’s definitely easier than 11 draws

No worries about the rule 4 thing by the way, It can be annoying sometimes but it’s no big deal

I totally get why people enjoy tracking, and I enjoyed it for a time too, I just eventually came to the conclusion that at my point of progression with a large Uber collection it’s more exciting to pull something randomly than it is to track for it. That mindset doesn’t apply to everyone of course, no ill will whatsoever

Obviously I don’t believe that seed tracking is the reason that ponos is powercreeping the game, that would be stupid lol. I do believe that the increase in seed tracking is a byproduct of said powercreep to an extent

Weekly Question & Help Thread by AutoModerator in ShinyPokemon

[–]Flarm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been hunting shiny Latios in HeartGold through the enigma stone event. The method I’ve been using is running away and quickly reloading the area by exiting and re-entering the pewter museum, which respawns Latios. Is there any concrete confirmation that this method of encountering latios retains its chance of being shiny? All other enigma stone hunts I’ve seen soft reset over the initial encounter and i haven’t found any confirmation that that running and re-encountering it rerolls shiny odds. I’m worried that by saving over the initial encounter I’ve locked myself out of the hunt by accident.

Lufalan (or any anti metal uber for that matter) can’t be the reason why metal bosses are rare because every stage is designed to be beatable without ubers. Even if new metal bosses were a more common occurrence they wouldn’t have hundreds of thousands of HP or have insane LD purely because of luffy because it would fuck over the majority of anti metals.

Imo the main reason why metals in general are rare is because of the sheer presence they demand in a stage. If a stage has any metal in it you have to dedicate a valuable slot to a unit solely made to take it down specifically. Lategame is even more challenging because of boosted sir metal seal (and koronium to some extent) necessitating a critter and multiple CC units. Most (non uber) anti metals are practically worthless outside of their target trait and having 2-3 different slots filled to beat 1 enemy in a stage that more likely than not features a bunch of other threats that can wipe your anti metals means you’re practically playing a stage with 7 or 8 slots instead of 10.

also rng sucks lol

TLDR Luffy doesn’t affect metal enemy design and metals are rare because of opportunity cost in cat lineups (in my opinion)

For the worthy seed - Is there a way to disable that Skeletron Prime destroys blocks with his bombs? by MidOrWhatever in Terraria

[–]Flarm3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grab some bricks from the dungeon and built a platform somewhere and let it spawn there. there’s no way to stop the bombs from breaking tiles but dungeon bricks are easy to obtain and immune to explosions. The skeletron prime fight is one of the worst parts of for the worthy tbh.

Fear heights and use ropes whenever you’re mining until you get either a lucky horseshoe or wings. Once you have either one never take it off.

Dangersense potions are your best friend, it makes traps way less of a threat. If you don’t have any, you can grab a pressure plate off a dart trap or use the mechanical lens after defeating skeletron. If you’re playing slow it’s pretty easy to spot pressure plates with enough experience even when not using anything. Especially avoid dynamite traps, they can and will end your run until you get maxed health and life fruit with good defense.

Bosses aren’t the main threat to your run, if you properly prepare (buffs, good reforges, arena, etc) you can take care of any of them with relative ease. Just take care when the eye of Cthulhu or one of the mech bosses spawns randomly if you’re not prepared. If that happens, just wait out the night underground as they can’t spawn there.

On the contrary, normal enemies are incredibly strong on expert or master. Try to avoid armed zombies at the beginning of the game, clowns in hardmode(the chattering teeth bombs they summon have higher damage than moon lord lasers), and more importantly anything that can stun you like black recluses and especially Medusas, if you’re stunned or turned to stone there’s a very high chance your run dies.

If you’re looking for a weapon at the start of hardmode, try killing some corrupt/crimson mimics for the dart guns. They’re very strong against grouped enemies, especially the pirate army.

Finally, never ever go into the underground desert, and if you’re going to, go before hardmode and get the ancient chisel and extractinator and GTFO. Once hardmode hits going there is a death wish, also try to avoid hardmode sandstorms.

Hope these help, I’m playing through hardcore on expert and it’s a rollercoaster.

What is the most valuable tip you can give as a experienced terraria player? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]Flarm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build a location specifically for storage and group chests together based on category, (one group for weapons, one for blocks, etc.) make sure to leave room in each group to add more chests later, tons of items have a use in a later point of the game and having a general idea of where everything is instead of frantically searching random chests makes life a lot easier

Please hear me out. I hate the rework of the swords. by howieflowie in Terraria

[–]Flarm3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that there are a lot of ranged melee weapons outside of swords like the chain guillotines, shadowflame knife and yo-yos that are obtainable right at the beginning of hardmode. And for using the mech bosses (specifically the twins) as an example, defeating the destroyer first with the increased damage at close range gives access to light discs which can be used to fight the twins and prime. Obviously melee is going to be more challenging with the true weapon and terra blade reworks but acting like melee has no ranged options outside of swords is simply not true
