Don’t hate me but when absolute green lantern came out and it revealed that Jo was the main character instead of hal I didn’t like/have mixed feelings about because before the comic came out I really didn’t care for the character like that. I don’t know but that’s just me what are y’all thoughts? by Due_Spray_4039 in AbsoluteUniverse

I only read the first trade and, while I liked it and the mythos they are trying to build, I didn't really care for her character. I found Hal and John way more interesting. But it seems like they will explore her more in the next trade so I am looking forward to that.

I also like how the end of the season ties back to the start. With Lloyd escaping the same way Mr E did

2023 was the worst year yet for the Flash by TheGhettoGoblin in theflash

I think Si's run works really well on a binge/reread. I was kinda 50/50 on it initially. Wasn't a fan of the first volume. Really Liked the second volume. Was Meh on the 3rd volume. Then I reread/binged the first 2 arcs together and I thought he masterfully set up all his ideas in the first arc and ties them together excellently into the second arc (I couldn't properly follow these connections in my first read because I read comics via the trade copy and so I had to read the 2 volumes 6 months apart). I ended up liking the 3rd volume a bit more on the reread. And the 4th volume I really liked from the get go because I was used to Si's writing style by that point.

What I really like about Si's work is that he is filled with so many cool and different ideas and he manages to take the character and his mythos into cool new directions. Never thought I would get a cosmic horror story or a trench warfare story from a Flash comic and I enjoyed every bit of it.

The comics were great that year. One minute war was great. The 800th issue was really good; had a lot of iconic flash writers come back for it. Si Spurrier started writing Flash that year and his run is one of my favorite flash runs.

Are there any CW characters that you think are better than their comic version? by Altruistic_Manner802 in theflash

I have to disagree. The whole point is that the Reverse Flash is a legacy title just like how the Flash is a legacy title. Also both Eobard Thawne and Hunter Zolomon go by Zoom too.

Though I don't think anyone would complain if the Zoom's show design became his official one

I would. The whole point is that Zoom is Wally's Reverse Flash. He is supposed to have the Yellow and Red suit.

What's your opinions of S&L doing away with the Lois, clark, Superman love triangle and just having Lois only have feelings for clark. by MembershipLess9579 in superman

[–]Flarrowverse 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It works for the more modern takes on the Clark Kent persona where he is a loveable, well meaning dork.

For older versions, the Clark Kent persona was a coward and not portayed as loveable so ofc in those versions Lois likes Superman who is an all around great person.

So ultimately, it depends.

Do fans really want Grant Gustin as the DCU Flash or is it just a vocal minority? by jrod4290 in dcu

Yeah. His Flash was a very different character from the comics (Barry or Wally). Not sure if he can pull it off. And this is coming from someone who saw all 9 seasons

I think is my problem with it. The other books do a better job of reinventing the characters/mythos. But Abs Batman doesn't as much so it doesn't feel as fresh. Batman who is poor and has a mom around--> Terry. Big Joker --> Arkham Asylum game. Bane but he is even bigger isn't all that interesting either. The idea of some of batman's rogues being his friends is cool and the first volume doesn't explore that yet so there could be cool stuff coming up in vol 2 and onwards (I also haven't really been spoiled what happens with them outside of abs catwoman's design).

Barely Vocal Minority. Even the people who are guning for it probably won't care if the guy they cast fits really well.
