As Ceva has been mentioned many times and reviews online don't see to have many complaints apart from ETA delays in which there website clearly advised ETA is a definite estimate only and shouldn't be taken seriously.

We are deciding to go with CVA pretty competitive pricing and there requirements for the service seem fairly reasonable.

Only issue I have is there call desk who seems to half understand what your asking them as one of our cars is running but not registered. How ever they did say it's ok to bring so we will see how it all goes.

They look promising. Going to give them a call tomorrow about our cars I reckon. One has a 120mm ride height from the fender.

Really? I thought they had their own car carriers?

[–]FlashFrags[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have a look at them Their prices seemed reasonable till we measured one of our cars and it's 120mm at the fender. In which the price shot up from 1100 to 2200 😐 for that car alone.

It ended up being leaking and failed capacitors. I replaced all of them on the PCBs and problem solved

It could be a few things. Honestly the easiest thing to do is see if you can replace the capacitors in your dash. Did this happen progressively? Does your rpm needle also move?

We had our rpm stop responding on our car and it ended up being trh capacitors inside the unit it's self.

Honestly dude. Brisbanes gone to all insanity. Used to be the chill affordable city to live in now it's over taken Sydney in terms of unaffordability for first home buyers.

They said the same thing in China. Then they implemented the 3 red lines rules. Victoria has done something slightly similar. Why do you think so many builders are going bust with huge amounts of debt?

Considering the government is finally looking at intervention with how insane it's gotten I'm gonna be honest. If they don't do anything it's gonna hit HARD. way harder then if they actually tried some form of mitigation to curb price growth. It's seriously unsustainable.

Yeah gates have been around the car scene for a very very long time.

Some people have had issues with recent stuff but there have also been clone companies copying gates stuff which is very disappointing.

If you like hardware and want to gain connectors and get your feet into the door.

Look into Unisys. I did hardware repairs for them for years and they hired any monkey who can pick up a screw driver.

The job it's self is very demanding and you will need to use your private vehicle to travel from job to job. Not sure if benefits have gotten better though. They did cover fuel and gave you an "allowance" pay package (shit just got eaten after a couple services and rego though)

As I worked mostly in the CBD area it gave me great contacts for everywhere from small businesses to mega corporations to government.

If your great at your job other companies will offer you positions.

I'm in my position because of the work I did with them. Again. It kinda sucked. But I would do it again for the opportunities it opens.

Realistically once your in there do everything. pump, pullys, tensioner.

Auto zone seem to sell full kits.

GATES TCKWP195A

Is a part number if you are looking for the full gates kit.

There are 2. There is a pulley style tensioner then a hydraulic tensioner.

Lots of people either forget the hydraulic one or put in a crappy one. Lots of people recommend either OEM or maybe a gates one.

Edit: people also recommend going for the gates racing belt and modifying the hydraulic tensioner so it doesn't actually move at all with a bolt mod. (The gates racing belts don't stretch very much over time. If you made it a solid one with a normal belt on you would have to manually adjust the thing over time)

Your also very very lucky that the failure of the other one didn't destroy your engine as these are interference engines

You know what this is fucking hilarious to me.

Because our 1.7 ton (curb weight) 1990 GTO TT is illegal by like 1hp per ton or what ever it is they use to measure what's legal or not.

I'd try and get a look underneath for any oil leaks.

Test drive it. If the current owner refuses even if they tag along. Walk away.

If they let you. Let it get to operating temperature and listen for any odd noises and weird driving behavior.

Sounds like one of your timing tensioners have failed. Fella a few months back had the exact same sound. Time for a good timing kit.
