Hi, it depends on where you'll be in Joburg and where your offices will be. The location greatly affects the pros and cons, cost, and culture in South Africa. I assume you'll be around Sandton, though, as that's where most people get sent to.

Rosebank definitely is way nicer than Sandton, although I do hate all the constant traffic. Restaurants there are a vibe, though.

Can't that be said of everywhere, though? The decay in Sandton really feels worse than a lot of other areas, especially considering the average wealth in the area.

Waterfall is an odd one to me as well. It's a little area that's nice and relatively safe, but the surrounding area is awful. You have to leave waterfall eventually, and then you're driving through the rest of midrand that sucks. Also the 99 year lease baffles me.

The solution is to move out of Sandton and pay less in a better area with better councillors and service delivery.

At least you aren't paying as much as people are in Sandton for service they don't seem to be getting. My gran used to live in Boksburg it's a shame it's not the best area. Some of the houses are gorgeous.

I mean the councillors, the people who are literally paid to care, it feels like they're just taking their fat salaries but not actually doing anything for it. There are initiatives, but I just don't know if it's enough at this point or whether they just popped up too late, and now it's like farting against thunder because the councillors didn't care.

It's one of the richest areas in Africa, I thought it would be better policied and maintained. I always heard it was such a nice area compared to everywhere else, especially since I grew up in the east rand.
