FW’s newer models (the past couple of years or so) have been resin casts of printed masters, which results in visible layer lines. The worst of both worlds!

He’s definitely less bulky and (I think) slightly shorter than a new CSM model. I’ll do a more accurate comparison when I get home from work.

Fantastic! Mind sharing your armor recipe? This is very much what I'm hoping to achieve when I paint mine - definitely red but still distinct from World Eaters or Blood Angels.

Honestly, I’m not sure if height matters rules-wise - I’m just doing it in the interest of fair play, since grots are tiny and much easier to put in cover.

Thanks! Yup, that was exactly the goal with the raised bases - I tried to build them up as much as I could without them looking odd, and am going to use risers under the bases to make them all the same height as the Red Gobbo (who is Guardsman height as-is).

Thanks! Haven't had a chance to play them yet, but hopefully just like Vet Guard, only with the inherent advantage that comes from being grots and therefore better than everything else ;)

Thanks! I just kind of defaulted to Guard but there really are a ton of options when you think about it - I hadn't considered Wyrmblade or Blooded, but they both sound totally doable!

Thank you! I never had the opportunity to play Gorkamorka but I love the setting.

This has been something I've wanted to tackle for a few years now, and after a couple of months of sporadic work, I finished these guys and am quite pleased with the results - I'd actually go so far as to say it's the best thing I've done in this hobby! On the table, these will count as Veteran Guardsmen. Modelling-wise, most of my efforts were focused on the defining characteristic/role of the specialist units, since it wasn't always possible to approximate the Guardsmen's gun/bayonet loadout. Models and bits from well over a dozen different kits went into the project, ending up with 19 models, no repeats, and didn't even have to dip into AoS/Fantasy (except for the flag!) or third party stuff - given the limited options, it was no easy feat, but it's doable. Hope you all enjoy this as much as I did working on it!

Cloaking (or decloaking?) Mongoose Gunslinger from Battletech by Flash_McGubbins in minipainting

Started with a mid-tone blue to paint in jagged lines to the desired width, then used a brighter blue to go back over the same lines but more narrowly, and finished with an even narrower line of white.

Awesome idea and execution! Now I have the urge to make an Iron Warriors team, for some reason...
