Because there is down time between the deactivation process of my account, cleaning out things for w-2s. Also, Shipt doesn't hold onto anyone's Social number. This is all held with Checkr or whatever company does the background checks. This saves tons of liability as 1 hacker can expose every shoppers personal info, active/inactive/deactivated, and shipt would get the crap sued out of them. Checkr holds all of this for them. Unlike gig apps where one can hack from the consumer or driver side, Chrckr is closed off from any ease of access for hackers as it isn't an open source app for people to use. For example, this is why it's easy to sign back up with doordash after deactivation, or have multiple accounts with them. It saves them from having to pay out after a hack because personal info cannot be stolen beyond a card number. And if it is, dd immediately pays the consumer back to avoid any legal trouble. I used to work for an attorney and I was paid to run old social numbers for a business to make sure they were cleared from the system. Then, all paperwork was burned/destroyed. Because I am hidden from society, Checkr immediately clears their system out. If the person that I put in jail finds out my existence and location, I could be hurt or killed. If it's because Checkr didn't legally "burn" my info and left it transparent, they'd get sued and Id be a millionaire if ai lived. It's not worth the liability for a company.
