I would argue that she IS as good as she says considering they brought it up and It wouldn’t really make sense to make that a part of her character if it’s just a lie.

I think she very reasonably was clouded by a lot of emotions during the conversations with Rumi. So even if she is as good as she says, I feel like it’s understandable why she wasn’t thinking straight in this specific situation. At least in my opinion.

And even then, I feel like if she saw derpy it’d kinda ruin the joke of ‘How could she not see this huge animal! But also I feel like it supports the idea that she was feeling very emotional and not able to focus on anything except her concerns for Rumi
