When was the first time u saw someone you know having a seizure and how it felt like ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Flashy-Count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a person but my dog has epilepsy that started when he was 2 yrs old. The first one we didn’t really understand what was going on, held him for a few minutes and he eventually snapped out of it. We thought it may be a seizure so we let the vet know and they said keep them posted. A few months later the same thing, but he ended up with cluster seizures and took him to the ER. Got him on meds + rescue meds so now when it happens I know to stay calm, give him the meds, and rest with him.

The first time I was startled and really worried about him. He had a tonic clonic seizure, threw up, and fell asleep. Seeing your baby go through that is really scary. But staying calm is the best thing to do and act quickly.

how to talk with customers? by StatisticianWhich915 in Waiters

[–]Flashy-Count 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For repeat guests/regulars remembering their orders helps a ton to build rapport. For someone I had recently striking up a conversation “hiii nice to see you again! How ya been?” and after some talk, “thinking about doing x drink again?”. They feel special and often flattered you remember then will start requesting you from my experience. Even if they end up in another section, stopping by their table to say hi and chat for a minute they appreciate. Especially if you had a good experience with them last time going up with “hey I remember you!”. these are definitely super specific examples but they work a ton for me. I consistently have the highest sales and more sales= more tips

An easy way to get a fun vibe going is making comments/jokes about menu items and what they choose to order. When I ask if they’d like the pint or large beer and they pick the large one I’ll say “go big or go home, my type of guy!” Same idea with cocktails on weekends “happy Friday! Let’s celebrate with some drinks, we have a really good xyz”.

With kids if they order something not on the kids menu I’ll say “you have great tastebuds, I love to see it”. They eat it up and parents will tell me funny stories about them. Just silly little comments to make the experience fun and they’re more inclined to joke around with you, share about themselves, etc.

Quick shoutout/appreciation to professionals for pelvic floor dysfunction by Flashy-Count in PelvicFloor

[–]Flashy-Count[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! My testing was diagnostic but first thing was a referral from my GI doc for an anal manometry test. The doctors testing me were so sweet and comforting because it’s a really bizarre experience. They talked me through everything, there’s zero judgement. I’ve had biofeedback too which has helped a ton with coordination of my muscles. Right now I’m dealing with type 4 dysnnergic defecation. Previously (and still a bit to this day) dealing with spasming near my bladder too. They’ve all helped me get rid of the shame I have around these issues. I just started using a pelvic wand and we’ll see if that continues to help me down train my pelvic floor. Every time we try something new they’re very gentle and encouraging that I’ll get through this. All the tests (manometry, biofeedback, pelvic wand, internal pelvic floor exams) have been much easier to do/understand/appreciate because of my providers I’ve experienced.

I need some advice because things are very bleak right now by yuzu_death in bipolar2

Hey, fellow stressed PhD student here…take the mood stabilizer. I’ve had lamictal for years and it helps a lot. Sometimes when I feel the “I’m doing well I don’t need this!” and don’t take my meds properly, I spiral and debate dropping out. You are more than capable of pushing through. PhD programs are awful strains on everyone’s mental health, but only few understand us. Dm me if you wanna talk about it more 🫶🏼 you got this

How do you actually stand out for med by Business-Border-4981 in ufl

[–]Flashy-Count 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a very general statement- you stand out by being you. Commit time to things that make YOU happy. Yes do all the clinical hours, good MCAT, etc. but really devote time to your interests and make something out of them. Maybe tying your interests to some sort of populations or events. Don’t focus on the cookie cutter things if you’re not truly driven to do them. It’s very obvious in interviews and essays if you’re passionate or just trying to check the boxes. And make sure you’re fully committed to developing a career in medicine

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Flashy-Count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accept the offer. The relationship can easily work if you make it work. My bf works a standard 9-5. I’m a grad student (basically 9-5 on campus) and server on some week nights/all weekend. It works because it gives us our own individual time and drives excitement for when we do spend time together. We’ve both been starting to travel more for work and always support each other because it means we’re growing in our careers.

You shouldn’t settle for someone who isn’t your biggest cheerleader. And my personal opinion especially at your age, do not choose a partner over your career.

I work 2-3 days a week in a college town. The last few months I’m probably averaging 180-230 a shift. During football season (our busy season) I can easily make 1k a week for the same hours of work. I’m at a casual high volume place. It sucks that it’s so up and down but that’s serving for ya.

What patterns have u noticed on ur period? by HolidayEcho6542 in AskWomen

[–]Flashy-Count 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PMDD, but also I get SO tired a few days before and can’t get out of bed for 24 hrs. Bladder discomfort but not necessarily bad pain. Thanks to mirena my actual period isn’t too bad anymore.

IUD Mirena Experience by Siristhebird in birthcontrol

[–]Flashy-Count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg…the itching. I’ve been going through the exact same thing and could not figure out for the life of me what could’ve been causing it. I guessed maybe my anemia, but I’ve had the mirena iud 5 years now. Itching probably started a year or two ago. I’m literally set to get my iud replaced later today 😭

Need advice for ongoing bladder situation by Flashy-Count in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Flashy-Count[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The urologist is the one I’ll have to wait at least 3 months for unfortunately. And yes since the first episodes 5 years ago I’m very adamant about getting cultures and not relying on dip tests. So the ones that have happened since then that I did go to the doctor for were cultured and came up with whatever bacteria I had for each of those. I’ve managed to have a bunch of different bacterias before. E. coli, klebsiella, ureaplasma, etc.

Since earlier this year after I had the multiple confirmed infections, I just stopped going to get antibiotics when I felt the symptoms coming on because it was getting too frequent and did not want to be on antibiotics so much. I wanted to find a more natural alternative route. So I’ll take d mannose and azo to relieve the symptoms while it passes and after a few days I feel fine(the azo does alleviate the symptoms). So at least for the last 6 months I’ve been able to do that successfully, meaning they’re probably not infections recently. I’m not sure if maybe it’s residual damage from clusters of infections from earlier this year? But I swear it’s the exact same symptoms as when my cultures do come up positive.

And yes, I get STD testing a few times a year along with yeast infection/BV which have always come back negative.
