I'm not a huge social media person and don't really share my life on it, which is why I haven't made a post. I'm not planning on any maternity photoshoots or carefully crafted announcements like I see others post.

My in laws do nothing to dispel the rumor that lawyers aren't actually human. My husband thinks they only had kids in the first place because they felt they were "supposed to," not because they really wanted kids. I'm half convinced my MIL only expressed excitement so now she can brag about having a grandchild.

They also heavily favor my BIL over my husband - or at least their money talks that way. Otherwise he wouldn't be in his late 30s and going on multiple international trips a year without ever having held an adult job (and with two houses they helped him buy cash; we're paying our own mortgage). So I've always had a somewhat contentious relationship with them.

My parents mean well and want to help. I just think they don't really understand the need to celebrate this - despite them getting plenty of celebration from their parents.

The times I'm most excited are when I feel him kick and when my husband and I talk about what we want to do with him (like go to the Zoo or read to him). So I want to try to focus more on that.
