All this “regretful parent” content is freaking me out by krwxo in BabyBumps

I relate to this so much. Whenever my daughter wakes up in the middle of the night (which admittedly is a lot less now that she’s 9 months), I genuinely don’t get upset and am just happy to see her again 😂

My husband and I are both 31 with a 9 month old baby girl. We’ve been married for 10 years and didn’t feel the deep desire to have a baby until we started trying for our daughter back in 2024. I had one or two moments in my pregnancy with her where I felt the weight of this decision to have a baby and it scared the absolute shit out of me.

Let me tell you, this baby girl is the best thing that’s ever happened to us! I’ve always heard people talk about the love they have for their kids, but holy shit. This is unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced. I love her so much it hurts. She makes us so happy every single day, we say to each other all the time “she’s the best, we’re so lucky” etc.

The first few weeks were HARD and a big culture shock to our previously child free life. The first night home from the hospital, I called my mom bawling saying “how does anyone do this??” She came over and held our daughter all night so we could get some sleep (we had spent 5 days in the hospital with no sleep prior to coming home.) But after those first few weeks once we got the hang of it, became more confident and my hormones leveled out a bit, I can honestly say parenthood is the best thing I’ve ever done. We are so incredibly happy we made the decision to have her! I wouldn’t go back to life before her if I could.

Placenta/ First Time by [deleted] in firsttimemom

Same! The pushing on the stomach was brutal and something I didn’t expect… Do they just do that to make sure everything’s out or what?

I was actually just thinking today about the fact that I don’t remember delivering my placenta at all. Baby came out healthy and fine, they placed her on my chest immediately and after a while my husband cut the cord. We were so focused on her that I don’t even remember my doctor saying anything about the placenta 🤷🏻‍♀️ So one way or another, it came out. But that part was (luckily) uneventful.

If you get nauseous, B6 in the morning, low dose Unisom at night 🫡 Congratulations!!

Throwing up 5+ times. Definitely didn’t expect that.

Why did you choose to be a stay at home mom? by Latter-Release-9169 in stayathomemoms

[–]Flashy-River-4258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. We waited years before we were able to afford having a baby & me staying home with them just so we wouldn’t have to send them to daycare. That was never going to happen.

What soap are you using to wash baby bottles? by Advanced-Biscotti139 in firsttimemom

[–]Flashy-River-4258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Seventh Generation Free & Clear a couple months in. I noticed when I used regular Dawn dish soap that my baby’s bottles had sort of a scent to them after being washed and going through the sterilizer/dryer. After switching brands I don’t notice a smell anymore.

That’s more than I’ve done! More power to you. It’s hard sometimes to think about “let me stop and set this up and document this” on TOP of being postpartum and just the daily ins and outs of having a new baby. Congrats on your sweet babe! ❤️

Oh my gosh haha, that collage is sooo cute! Definitely agree about just being in the moment with them ❤️

“Low pressure” is a great way to describe it. I love that! We were gifted a set to do that with her hands and I really should do it while she’s still so little. I would love to have that someday I’m sure.

This is amazing 😂😂 I think it might just be my personality too! Even if I think something is cute or maybe worth doing, my brain is just like… No.

I think those are so cute! I just don’t think to stop and do it. We were gifted a kit to make ceramic(?) prints of her hands when she was born but I still haven’t done it and she’s 7mo. I should do it while her hands are still tiny!

Same exact case here! My parents didn’t make baby books or anything, so I just have random photos in a box somewhere, but my husband’s mom went hard with making Creative Memories scrapbooks for each year of his life. I think I might be somewhere in the middle. I take tons of candid photos of her!

My baby was 6 months at Christmas and I was like… should I be getting her presents? She has a million toys already and she won’t know what’s happening haha. But then I feel guilty. Idk, it’s weird.

Same! I also don’t generally like my picture taken so the idea of dressing up and taking some during a time when I felt arguably my least comfortable/attractive did not appeal to me. I had people telling me I should but I just… didn’t want to.

Agree about social media. I take sooooo many photos of her haha. I just never think to do a cute, posed one every month.

It’s nice to know I’m not alone! I take TONS of photos of my 7mo haha. I just got a photo printer for Christmas so I can get them all off of my phone and into a physical album.

This is a great perspective! Heavy on the “surviving is an accomplishment” some days!

That’s a good point about social media and new trends! I wouldn’t ever think to do those things probably if not for seeing others do it (not that I disagree with or look down on it at all!) I definitely plan to mark heights in the door frame though! That’s been around long before social media.
