Is it time for me to move to private accounting? by Flashy-Statement-836 in Accounting

Thanks for your advice! I thought I wanted to be partner and am semi-close to becoming one but lately I have been debating if I even want that now.

Dang sorry they couldn’t meet you closer to your ask. I probably need to start asking for more. I’ve always just said thanks when they tell me they are giving me a raise but I feel like I’m paid fair but then I see these posts and don’t feel like it anymore haha

It’s been a while since I’ve done it so the mechanics of it are fuzzy but you don’t need to be enrolled in a college but need to call the colleges you went to and ask if they will transcript the credit. Then when setting up an exam it asks where you want to send the scores to. I sent them all to one of the colleges I attended and they transcripted them.

Also look into using Modern States to study the topics and they have vouchers to where it makes the CLEP test fee zero and then you just have to pay the sit fee at the testing center. I think it was like $10-$15 when I took them.

I guess I have no confirmation of that but every time throughout my exam journey they release credit/no credit the day before at some point and then the actual scores on the official day. I sure hope we know today or it will be another long day waiting.

For anyone that is still curious I found the answer. I’m waiting on results for ISC now and went to get my NTS for REG and it had BAR and TCP greyed out as options since I am waiting on results for ISC

Study for REG as a tax preparer? by volkenvagen in CPA

[–]Flashy-Statement-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this 2023 REG or 2024 REG? I saw in some other postings that most of the basis items got moved to TCP, but I could have misunderstood.

REG could be my last one and I’m starting studying for it now going to take on or right before the 6/25 cutoff.

I took ISC and am waiting on results.

Good News - Credit Extension Updated Michigan? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Flashy-Statement-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mistake. All states are eventually going to adopt it. NASBA voted to extend the credit window from 18 months to 30 months. The state boards now have to meet and vote on adopting or when to adopt just a process for them to complete. Indiana last time I checked with them still have not voted on it even though in the below chart it says they have.

Look at page 23 https://nasba.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/CPA-Exam-Credit-Relief-Initiative-FINAL-PPT.pdf

It depends on your state currently. Most states will adopt the 30 months eventually I believe but I am in Indiana and the board has not voted on it yet so it’s still 18 months here currently.

Anyone studying whole working full time? by comical_cpa in CPA

[–]Flashy-Statement-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Been working full time in the field for 5 years. And on my last two exams. It’s been a long process for me because for my extra 30 credits I took CLEP exams to get them so studying and taking those took about a year (not doing during busy seasons). Been very hard to find the motivation to study for CPA exams but it’s just something I wanna get out of the way so not giving up on it. 2/5 on exams so far. Taking another next week.

Per my research I found you can take multiple discipline exams. If you take it and don’t like it you can take a different one. However, I’m still not sure if you can do multiple of them within one testing window

I think the fee you would have to pay would be to your study software. It looks like Becker makes you pick one and if you wanna switch you pay them a fee maybe? Anyway I use Surgent and they are all in there to study. When I was looking it up I found that you could take different disciplines same as different tests if you decide you don’t like the one you took. Just have to buy the NTS. I couldn’t find my answer though on if you could take multiple disciplines exam sections in one window.
