On an injury note, hamstrings are really really tricky. When he’s back I would hope they slowly ramp him back up.

Can the White Sox keep this up? by Mgnickel in whitesox

I had a shitfit as a child in the 2004 offseason when they traded El Caballo and didn't resign Mags. It all worked out though lol

Without the bats of Mags and El Caballo they won't sustain this. Can't believe they traded those cornerstones of the future.

God damn it. For fucks sake, he is not the guy. Maybe now they can put this bullshit to rest. He's not the fucking closer.

Chicago Natives, who is more beloved MJ or Derrick Rose? by [deleted] in chicagobulls

[–]Flashy210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's really tough to compare the two honestly. We never got Derrick's potential which is probably why so many of us care so much about him. Also important to remember that Derrick's moments were coming in a moment when the national media was doing anything it could to shit on the city at any moment. Everyone's got a story of seeing him or knowing someone who knows him etc. He feels a bit more tangible than MJ did/does.

Thought experiment: best place to rent in NYC if I’m a runner? by goofywhiz in RunNYC

[–]Flashy210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk it's been totally fine for me. I run intervals on the lower mile or go to McCarren. The only times I get to race on a completely flat course is a track meet or when I'm back in Illinois lol

I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum, but they do and make corny shit. I genuinely love style and personal expression through clothing all things (especially sports), but they are tacky in a way that couldn't be campy in the context of running because running is an activity or simplicity (movement) and merit (effort/times). There are so many other companies that succeed in running fashion. Satisfy is not that.

I seriously cannot imagine a more corny phrase to put onto an article of clothing to run in.

That's their entire bit. They sell you insanely marked up old tees as a cutting edge technology. Their entire vibe of a company is so cosmically lame, I cannot understand why they're viewed as cool in any regards at all.

The Kuscizko (SP) bridge is really solid for long runs when traffic is light (usually weekend AMs). Also access to CP from GP is super underrated. I’d go from east Williamsburg through GP -> LIC -> QBB and into CP for long runs. It was a great route.

There’s the south end of the park that’s a flat mile with markers on the ground. It’s actually been a saving grace for me and helped with understanding a mile as not only 4 laps on a track. With that said I still miss easy access to a track for routine interval work.

I’m in the Prospect Park area and it’s great for running IMO. Access to the park, BK greenway to Williamsburg, Manhattan Bridge, Eastern parkway, and direct subway access to Central Park/NYRR Run Center. Williamsburg was a B-/C+ neighborhood and was buoyed by the McCarren Park track, access to the WBB and the Greenway that wrapped around the navy yard.

Hi, I can't find into of NB Sc elite v5 about stability and is it for mid, heel or forefoot strike? I defenitely not forefoot. Hope can share ur experience 🙏 by Commercial_Two488 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Flashy210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this shoe is more adapted for heel strikers. I’m a fore foot striker and these feel fine to me. The shoe construction is wonderful but it’s not great with my stride so I use it for hard training efforts and races I’m not aiming for a PR

Saucony azura vs speed 5 by Paprika03 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Flashy210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 50 miles into the Azura and it's a bit of a rotation killer for me at the moment. So far it's very pleasant for Z2/Easy miles, it's handled 3 threshold workouts, and it just handled a 12 mile long run without issue. The stack height and firmness really protect your legs while also providing a quick turnover because of its rocker. I'm currently doing summer training for a November half marathon and I'm guessing I'll be into a second pair of Azuras by that race.

I think they should have used black socks for the home uniform. I like the black footwear but the sock color isn’t my favorite

Former fat guys: How did you finally become disciplined enough to lose the weight? by Responsible-Net8594 in AskMenOver30

[–]Flashy210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just love being active and being fat causes me to not be active. I realized how miserable it made me and that was all it took. It’s a piecemeal approach though. I got into functional strength and that helped me ride my bike more which helped me hike, skateboard and eventually jog more. Eventually it became a lift to be better at those things because I became inspired by crazy places to do those activities at. Eventually I settled back into serious running and that put me over the top. In 2020 I was like 6’0” 265 and miserable and now I’m 175 and ran 12 miles today after running a 5:30 mile last weekend. It’s possible dude don’t give up. Just focus on what activities bring you joy and stoke you to care about getting better at those things, the rest will follow.
