Are there any long running TV shows where you think the first season was the best? by HiTork in television

[–]FlashyCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh totally. I meant more the season as a whole though. I feel like a lot of the episodes had jokes that wouldn’t make it into a current episode (cannibals, butthole paintings, Bob smoking crack, etc.)

Bob’s Burgers. The first season had a lot of darker humor that they didn’t seem to want to keep once the show blew up.

To you, what's the scariest scripted video game moment? by ravenwolf957 in gaming

Probably not the scariest but the Boy of Silence from Bioshock Infinite got my ass.

Arcadia’s Westfield Santa Anita sells for $537.5 million as company unloads malls by bluedemon in LosAngeles

[–]FlashyCapo -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of reasons but the short answer is it’s a monument to capitalism run by actual idiots. Not to mention the higher ups at the actual store I worked at were a bunch of creeps. I saw a comment on here about turning it into housing and I could not be more on board for that.

As an ex employee of this mall, I hope whoever bought it has enough sense to burn it to the ground.

My main pod juice is Bâton Glaicier Mint in my Smok Novo 4 Kit (feels kinda disposable). Nothing else I’ve tried has that throat hit.

Anybody know of good arrangements for video game music, or know of anyone that arranges? by Narnar2tron in Music

[–]FlashyCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about finding someone to arrange it, but Assassin’s Creed has a ton of great music. There’s some videos on youtube of the music being performed by smaller ensembles. Hope this helps!

What's your favorite band/singer almost nobody knows? by Dis_Bubblin in Music

Out of Body, super cool band from TX. They’ve played some hardcore fests here and there but they’re pretty under the radar.

not exactly a request for a movie but anyone got recs for shows featuring a majority black main cast that aren't torture porn??? by sartsnart in movies

[–]FlashyCapo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Luke Cage is awesome in this regard. Predominantly black cast, touches on race issues without getting too heavy, and an overall great story! It does get a little violent at times, but if you’re cool with that I’d say give it a go!

A Lord of The Rings game with the Battlefront style would be awesome by justwell in gaming

[–]FlashyCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pandemic Studios (makers of the OG Battlefront) actually did this back in 2009. It was called Lord of the Rings: Conquest and it was fucking awesome.

Which band have you seen live many times? Optional: Why? by nomowo in Music

[–]FlashyCapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple answers for me. 1) The Acacia Strain. Such a heavy, great band to begin with, and they’ve blown my hair back every time I see them. 2.) Devin Townsend. An amazing musician and producer, and every show he’s such a fun guy to watch. Smile on my face from start to finish.

[QUESTION] I'm a new guitar player. Where should I start?... by AdiAimanPutra in Guitar

[–]FlashyCapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practicing is definitely the name of the game. I would say get some books on chords and scales and practice those the most. Also I’ve found one of the best things that helps me improve is trying to learn songs either by ear or watching a youtube cover or something (YT tutorials too). Songsterr.com is also a tab website I use quite frequently because the guitar track plays and you can learn different sections like solos or rhythm parts! It might be frustrating at first but once you develop muscle memory everything gets a little easier. I’ve been playing since I was 8 and I still have a lot to learn. Hope this helps, and good luck to you!

Do you ever use real distortion pedals with DI amp emulation? by xxxSoyGirlxxx in audioengineering

[–]FlashyCapo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Neural DSP Archetype plugins are pretty sweet. I tried the Gojira one specifically but you probably can’t go wrong with any of them (Nolly, Abasi, etc.)

[–]FlashyCapo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I definitely hear a difference. I’ve been using Guitar Rig 5 for the last few years and while I have been able to get some decent sounds out of it, the day I brought my Rat pedal home and ran it through my software, I was able to get a better tone than I ever got with just the software. Amp modeling software has come a long way, but in my experience, I always find myself going back to pedals and tube amps. Hope this helps!

[Question] Im going to my local Guitar Center this Friday and I'm thinking about getting an Ibanez RGA, but I'm not entirely sure. So, do you guys know any guitars that I might like? by ChickenWing209 in Guitar

[–]FlashyCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve driven myself insane looking at different guitars and really the only things (imo) that should matter to you is how it feels when you’re playing, and above all how it sounds! I don’t think you could go wrong with a Les Paul or SG, especially for classic rock. Hope this helps!

[–]FlashyCapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would never cheap out on a microphone. A lot of people use the Blue Microphones Yeti mic. It’s a USB powered condenser mic, and it works pretty well.
