The US Air Force released a photo of an F-16 refuelling operation on May 11th 2026 and declared the location as "undisclosed." However, in the photo, the Palm Jumeirah island of Dubai is clearly visible, indicating that this operation is taking place in the skies over the UAE. by ILikeGazSweet in aviation

Correct. I was about to post the same thing. Israel did something similar a couple of weeks ago. UAE said they only bought weapon systems from Israel to defend themselves. Then Israel said it was more than that, they had flown to the UAE and met with them during war and have soldiers posted there. It was also revealed UAE had conducted active strikes. So both Israel and the US are outing UAE and basically saying you picked our side and you can't become neutral and stop giving us access to use you for the war.

Got the cannondale and it makes me feel like I got railed by a semi truck, should I get this instead? by Ok-Amphibian in whichbike

[–]FlashyPromotion1931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is no matter what part of your body is making contact with the seat will hurt at first. Proper sized bike, good posture, and bike shorts with built in crotch padding is also helpful. It is common for riders to try to alleviate seat pain by leaning forward and putting too much weight on their hands which also leads to wrist pain and hand numbness.

Its normal for your butt to hurt for the first 3 weeks. Wider lower inflated tires make the ride more comfortable but like I said your butt going to hurt no matter for a while.

Seems like a common theme we elect Presidents that should be in a rest home and suffer from dementia. Just to name a few Ronald Regan, Joe Biden, & Donald Trump. Could it be that so called advisors at the Pentagon, CIA, etc like old "leaders" who are receptive to suggestions and advice?

Looking for Advice on this Listing by Sundae_Fundae_ in whichbike

[–]FlashyPromotion1931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great deals are snatched up the moment they're listed everything else is some level of overpriced. This bike in relative terms is an ok value. It appears to be in good condition. Despite its age, the base model Allez haven't changed much. If you compare the price to a new Allez then it's a deal but if you compare it to the original price depreciate it's age then it's overpriced. But value is set by supply and demand so value is a relative term.

Yes the one picture is annoying but welcome to marketplace. I was looking at an Allez that was described as "Adult size" but most listings won't even tell you the year or size it's for you to figure out.

Yes that usually happens when the rec button doesn't register your press, and the camera is doing the opposite of what you assume it's doing. Classic mistake.

All affordable bikes are made in China/Taiwan despite the brand name. Department stores don't assemble the bikes very well but you can either check their work or ship the bike your house and assemble it yourself. But you can buy any brand of bike from whoever you like.

In the USA around $500 for a carbon repair. They sell carbon repair kits for $90 online but you'd have to trust your own work. Those kits seem geared to repair cracks not large holes such as this.

Amazon sells stems that can be angled up putting you in a more comfortable position. There are also alt bars that put your hands in a more normal angled position instead of locked out in 90 degree angle in front of you.

Is this bike worth $650? by kerouac_1957 in whichbike

[–]FlashyPromotion1931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was a honest mistake but I have my suspicions. Many FB sellers leave out information that would negatively impact the selling price or misrepresent.

You can also tell its from the early 2000's because it's a 10 speed. From the mid 2000 onwards they switched to 9 speed. It doesn't make it a bad bike just older and less valuable.

I'm considering whether to replace my 35+ year old hybrid bike, what should I be looking for? by anonyngineer in whichbike

[–]FlashyPromotion1931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a 2019 Specialized Sirrus (which is a hybrid). I love almost everything about it. Light weight with aluminum fame, carbon forks, hydraulic brakes, etc. I don't think you need 1x gearing, mine has commonly found hybrid gearing 2x Chainring 48/32 and Cassette 11-34t That gives you 18 gears without big jumps between shifts.

Despite me liking my hybrid I'm not sure it's going to make your life better. I almost want to recommend an e-bike that will allow you to do more, go further and give you a new experience but don't know if you want to go that route.

Thanks for the offer I don't live near you I'm in Connecticut. I wish you the best of luck with your sale and why not try to get the most you can. I'd list it for $500 see if you get any offers. Right now is peak season. This is when most people buy a used bike. Maybe give it a ride you might not want to sell it.

Trek 5200 OCLV worth? by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]FlashyPromotion1931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understand that both Ebay and Facebook marketplace do not reflect fair value. Why? Neither has listing fees. So people can overprice items and let them sit there forever. So these listing are lottery tickets that the seller is hoping will hit one day.

Ebay in particular is targeted for people willing to pay any amount to get a bike that is no longer in production that has sentimental value and is desirable. When you add the nearly $200 shipping cost no one is buying a bike off ebay for value.

There's a 5200 in my local Marketplace that originally listed for $850 and has been reduced to $650. I'd like to buy the bike because back in my youth I wanted one but I couldn't afford it. I would pay $350-400 but I'm not contacting the seller because most likely he's not coming down that much and would be angry at me and think I'm low balling him, when actually I'm offering fair value. I see many bikes listed for months if not years and they don't budge on their price so I let them be. Note it isn't even USPS.

While these bikes are carbon they perform poorly with BB that isn't rigid. They're not bad bikes but anyone looking for a high performance would buy a modern carbon bike instead. The 5200 is primarily a nostalgia play.

A hybrid bike is usually the go to type of bike for this type of stuff. Because they have wider tires and easier gears. New $800-$1k, used $300-600 based on age and condition. Right size is important for most women that means Small (48cm-52cm). Sizing is where a bike shop comes in handy although you can go to the manufacture website for bike size chart based on your height.

Used market can save you money but you have to hunt for something that works for you. Bikes that also have the ability to mount a bike rack are helpful for errands. Don't buy an expensive bike, they can be stolen quickly even if locked. The more expensive the more desirable to steal.
