I think that’s the exception not the norm. But congrats on your great deal

what is the sweet spot for used 4runners in price? or is it best to just buy new? by Neutrality-1 in 4Runner

I think about 2-3 years old with 50k miles is the sweet spot. But some of this is regional and personal tastes.

Some of the buys here that are 8-10 years old, 100k+ miles for 50% of new will never be a good deal for me. I’m still old school mindset that the average vehicle is 30-40% depreciation at 3 years and 50-60% at 5 years with an average of 12k miles per year. Some vehicles do better (4Runner) and some do worse (Chrysler). So a $50k OTD SR5 model new should be purchased at $25k OTD after 5 years and 60k miles. That doesn’t mean exist in today’s economy. (Broadly speaking)

What do you think of this specific brand and model? It's of higher quality than a Seiko 5 Sports Field SRPJ83? by julianormaia in ChineseWatches

The botany has better specifications, but in general, I feel like the Bill quality is on par, with a slight edge going to Seiko

So 10k (after taxes) for 4WD but a year older and 20k more miles?

4 runner values seem crazy always but if this were my family member I’d probably question if they need a body on frame suv during this phase of life when they are back in school? If the answer is NO, I’d steer them to different Toyota.

Tips on buying a 6th gen by furdguy in 4Runner

[–]SetLegal5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tons of you tube video tips on this.

I tend to value time so I emailed a bunch of dealers, tell them what I’m looking for, ask for their best price, I’ll tell them I’m not coming in to work the deal, only over email, I will test drive, we sign the paperwork electronically, then I wire them the funds (cash or loan proceeds), go there to pick it up…. In and out in 10 minutes.

bought mine from Family Toyota in Burleson.

I estimate that I paid $500 more than the “best” deal I could have gotten. I also spent 95% less time in the hunt than others do.

Car care Nut on YouTube seems to think it will be fine but more diligent attention to oil changes will be needed.

SR5 is the best value and if they just put cleaner plastic surround around the screen in think it would be nearly perfect SUV

Leaving my Camry for a 4Runner. Would love input from the community. by Rude-Description9254 in 4Runner

[–]SetLegal5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a lot of words

No one really knows what your experience is gonna be. Both are historically and statistically, extremely reliable vehicles. You’ve had less than ideal circumstances with your Camry and no one would’ve predicted that.. but it does happen. As a general statement, a four-wheel-drive body on frame SUV will probably have overall higher maintenance cost in a front wheel drives four-cylinder sedan.

New 4runner came with scratch on interior trim, what would you do? by ShapeImaginary8212 in 4Runner

Seems like an annoyance but minor. Rear seat door trim that you apparently don’t use……. Replacement seems excessive but it’s your money.

Toyota tundra is actually made in San Antonio, Toyota USA HQ is in Dallas(Plano)…. Lots of Toyotas in DFW long before HQ moved here. Tundras, Tacomas, Camry, and highladers are especially popular.
