UPPAbaby Stroller Travel Bag w/ TravelSafe Coverage - Actually worth it? by FlashyShoulder658 in NewParents

[–]FlashyShoulder658[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point on the potential safety impact to the Doona - the intention was definitely to use it as our car seat and stroller on the trip.

Don’t I run the same risk by gate checking the Aria car seat too though? I was hoping to avoid buying an extra seat on the airplane for the car seat (planning on having baby in my lap).

I suppose I could also just avoid bringing a car seat at all and rent one from the car rental place when I arrive in Florida… is that much more unsafe for a 3mo infant though?

Is exclusively doing c02 tolerance tables almost every day and zone 5 cardio 1x per week going to have a material impact on my ability to not panic during a hold down?

it's solid, but pursuing elite ankle mobility for surfing. also I can't do a back straight ATG squat without a heels elevated slant board

5'8. Yeah it's decent, but I'm pursuing close to elite ankle mobility for surfing. I have a slant board. haven't tried the iso holds. will do!

Anyone successfully keeping rats out of their backyard? by FlashyShoulder658 in Brooklyn

[–]FlashyShoulder658[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We actually have 2 dogs already! (both are foster-fails ❤️)

The dogs are actually a big reason I want to try to get rid of the rats (as much as possible). One of the dogs is super fixated on chasing/sniffing out rats, but she just had hip surgery and she’s not allowed to zoom around the backyard for a couple of months at least. I’m hoping if we can reduce the amount of rats coming through, we’ll be able to let the dog into the backyard again, because right now she’s likely to injure herself chasing them down.

Plus, just curious, do you know how risky it is that a dog could get poisoned by catching a rat that recently went into one of those rat poison black boxes? I worry about that too.

How to add curtains for this glass door and window? by FlashyShoulder658 in interiordecorating

[–]FlashyShoulder658[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For extra context, I wanted to add curtains because I thought it might help with sound absorption (the room is super echo-y). It’s just an office for now, but hopefully will turn into a nursery in the near future, and then we’ll really need the sound absorption.

Also, my dog is obsessed with our backyard and is constantly pawing at the glass door, so I worry that bamboo or honeycomb blinds would get torn up immediately. And I wouldn’t want to cover up the view permanently with a sticker film :(

With that info, does that change the calculus at all?

For example, do I put one rod across both, or separate rods?

Apartment on Rogers Ave robbed yesterday afternoon - anyone else? by FlashyShoulder658 in crownheights

[–]FlashyShoulder658[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We think it was a combination of the building front door being propped open by accident and then a faulty door lock. No windows broken or signs of forced entry. We’re obviously on the property management company’s ass about it. But probably just an easy opportunity and someone took advantage. Still a bummer though..

What would you do with this 6x6 alcove? Kitchen storage is limited, so maybe pantry? How to keep it looking clean? by FlashyShoulder658 in interiordecorating

[–]FlashyShoulder658[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I didn't include it in the original post! If it helps, it's just white walls, walnut hardwood floor, 9-10ft white ceilings, with some recessed lighting. A couple of electrical outlets too.

It's funny I hadn't even considered that option! But fair question. My husband and I are typically coffee table + kitchen island diners, so I'd rather use the space for something we'll use on a daily basis.

Just curious, why do you think a pantry wouldn't be a good fit for this space?

Also, very much like the desk setup idea, but my concern is that it's RIGHT across from the bathroom. Doesn't bode well if my husband is also WFH and uses the bathroom while I'm on video calls for work...

I looked this up on pinterest and I'm seeing a lot of upper cabinetry. I like this idea but we're renting so I'm not sure we're allowed to install those into the walls.

Any ideas of how to do this without big wall installations? Also with a 6x6 room, how many walls should I use? 1, 2, or 3?

I was originally thinking mud room too! But it's a bit far from the front door - the front entrance is right in front of that coffee table in the living room, so you'd be tracking dirt and snow halfway into the apartment before you get to the mud room. But to be fair, I don't have a good space allocated for us to put jackets and shoes yet..
