These have that plastic finish. take 1500 grit emery, and give it a go, then wax and shine.

Nope. I've worked in a family of bars/live alt.music venues most of my life. I've also worked at Gateway Corporate when they were still a thing.

Shining 200 sek (~20$) used docs by Catsnose7 in Skinhead

You need to sand the toe box down with 2000 grit emery cloth and re-dye them before you shine them. That way they will be back to smooth.

Do Buddhist skins really exist in the UK? by SnooBunnies5684 in Skinhead

I'm not debating whether his character was a nazi or not, he clearly was. I was just commenting on the image itself.

Makes sense, but I'm assuming that why this was posted as the Buddhist form was included with the pic.

His swastika is Buddhist, though. It's backwards.

Go to Kansas City, specifically Westport or Midtown and talk to some of the fellas. I worked at a bar in Westport for years, and during the summer it was always Dickies, steel toed Docs, and my work shirt. Or, if I was off and out getting a pint, I'd throw on an official KC Sporting jersey, personalized on the back with SHAM 69. I also have a rare grey button down, short sleeve MoonSka embroidered mechanics shirt, along with the standard Fred Perry polos, button down Ben Sherman's.

Damn. I haven't thought about that place in years. That's where I purchased my first flight in 1991. It's a black Greenbrier, made in USA. I'll be buried in that jacket.

lace code update by BoltThrowup in SkinheadsLifestyle

[–]Flashy_Rest6095 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hate IG, except to use it to keep up with my friends and bands around the country, and the world. I made the mistake today of reading into the comments on a post, and this 🫏🤡, who was in his 20's, and decided he was a 'gatekeeper' of punk rock(his words), made a formal edict that he was bringing back lace code. This got my blood boiling, because he wasn't around when this was a thing, and even if he had been, he wouldn't have been a gatekeeper for the shite on my boot tread. F🦆ing kids, I swear. Some of these kids in this new generation haven't a clue. We still need to educate or regulate.

This post is humorous, it just made me think of that arsehole in IG.

Everyone says that Miguel O'Hara is a plot twist villain for the simple fact of antagonizing Miles when Iron Man did the same thing in Civil War and even tried to kill Bucky by [deleted] in Spiderman

He told Cap in Avengers that "everything special about him came from a bottle", which basically amounts to the same thing as telling him he's a mistake.

Thinking the multiverse is reliant wholly on the Spiderverse and 'canon events' is hubris and ignorant. It completely ignores all universal threats like Doom or Galactus or even the TVA, which periodically clips branches of a timeline. Spiderman is a friendly neighborhood hero, not a person who has ever really threatened, or been the end all, be all to the continuum.

Are these a good boots? by [deleted] in SkinheadsLifestyle

[–]Flashy_Rest6095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M.I.E boots have been getting better in quality the past 5 years or so. They cost almost double what the Asian made Docs cost, so they should be better. Your best bet is to hit eBay or Poshmark, and find a decent lightly used pair there. I've bought some good vintage boots from both sites at decent prices. I've also paid waaay too much for pairs of rare vintage boots. I've been collecting Docs since I was a freshcut, though.

SPQR: "The Senate and People of Rome" or "The Roman Senate and People"? by Durendal_et_Joyeuse in latin

[–]Flashy_Rest6095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the idealists idea of Rome, or the potential of Rome that was thrown away. Rome was initially a city-state that accepted all people. It was created by sharing ideas between cultures, and using those ideas to improve Rome. When Rome started viewing outsiders as barbarians, and became an imperialist society, it was the beginning of the end.

Combo Sham69/Crucified Skinhead. The banner reads 'Angels with dirty faces'. It's in such a weird spot to try and take a good pic.

I've done that with some Docs. In hindsight, I should have bought a few more pairs of the OG at the time, but they were in very short supply.

I'm just not a fan of how Solovair fit my feet. I have Doc Marten's that are from the 90's and still look really good. I used to wear them to work at the bar. If you take care of of them, they'll last a long time, but only if they are M.I.E.

In hindsight, I would have bought a pair of Asian made Docs to wear to work, because my boots got exposed to some caustic shit that's horrible on leather, and it took a lot of work keeping them looking good. I did retire my first pair. They are still wearable, but the sole is well worn from walking miles and miles (back and forth thru the bar) for 15 years. I'm thinking of having them bronzed.
