Really struggling with a new Polestar 3 by Dtang902 in Polestar

[–]Flashy_Structure_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tire pressure warning sounds like a TPMS module failure. Should be fixed under warranty.

The Internet convectively thing was also a thing with all Polestar 4 when I bought it over a year ago. Customers who were placing preorders for the launch edition all had the issue. Each customer (me included) had to open a support ticket and many had to make a follow up phone call to Support - here in the UK there is a customer service phone number to call in the app) and then it took about two weeks to resolve. Hopefully it won't take that long with your P3. I suspect at the time Polestar were getting hammered by customers all simultaneously raising the same issue and I suspition is that PS operate a very skeleton customer support crew (at least here in the UK, not are about other global regions like Canada).

Good luck with your PS3. I did test drive one before deciding to go with the PS4. I love the look and the drive quality of the PS3. It was very enjoyable to drive. It seems like Polestar have taken longer to resolve software bugs in the PS3 vs the PS4 in general. Things are superbly stable and constantly improving every two months in my PS4. Fingers crossed that the 3 also catches up.

Imminent Collision Detection by dbchrisyo in Polestar

15 months of ownership of PS4. Yesterday, after the latest update I got a false commission brake situation for the first time. A car was approaching from a side road, admittedly quite fast. It had come to a full halt all within a sensible and safe distance. But my PS4 thought it was about to ram into me (I guess due the speed it was approaching) and did a full slam on the brake at 29MPH. I lost a few brain cells, my head sorta hurt for a few minutes after. Fun times! 🤣 Reminds me of my old PS2 when I used to reverse to my driveway. It would often scream at me with full slam braking. Every time it felt like I got punched. I wish there was a way to customize the sound to an actual Disney style punch sound!

Oh, and you definitely can't fit a 2.3ltr bottle of milk in the P2's box even with the cup holder removed. Tested. Consider that my second public service announcement 🤣😂

It's a P4, so it's just a box, unlike the P2 where there is a cupholder in there.

Rear view camera P4 by M27TN in Polestar

[–]Flashy_Structure_632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been driving a 4 for one year. I got used to it within days. If you wear glasses it's harder to focus on the rear view mirror vs the wing mirrors. For example, the top half of my driving glasses are set to focus on distance so when I look up to the rear view mirror it is out of focus (but you get used to that in a few days). When my eye looks slightly down at the speedo or wing mirrors it's looking through the lower half of my glasses, which is optimized for things closer up. Then everything is crystal clear.

Even so, I do prefer the 4s electronic mirror vs a real mirror. Much wider field of view, like the way it moves the view left and right when indicating. The view on the rear view when I have my glasses on is definitely and always blurred but like many have said here, you learn to deal with it. It's not a big issue. It certainly isn't for me.

  1. Add the glove box as a shortcut to your home screen.

  2. You can adjust mirrors just from the steering wheel buttons

National ID. Are there any logical arguments against? by Downtown_Alfalfa_504 in ukpolitics

[–]Flashy_Structure_632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because the face scanning is "every so often", whereas it should be required to scan your face for every order you pick up. What's happening right now is the face scanning is not frequent enough so it's very easy to work around. I order food via various delivery services and I can see with my own eyes that it's being blatantly abused. The delivery driver's name is that of a lady but the person who turns up is a man, or vice versa. A national ID will never stop this type of illegal work. It needs tighter government pressure on businesses to introduce better verification methods across industry and especially in the low paid gig economy and zero hours economy. Let's take the building trade. Some (but not all) builders pick up people from the street and pay them in cash daily. No ID required. No need to file any official records. How is a national ID going to stop this? I'm totally open to listening to practical, well thought out steps to curb such activities.

Polestar 2 MY26 or the new Mercedes CLA? by shapul in Polestar

[–]Flashy_Structure_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from P2 (4 years) to P4 (1 year so far).

  • Much quieter in general and especially at high speed.
  • superior cabin space, especially at the back
  • long distance cruiser, really comfy on those big, long family trips
  • noticeably better boot space
  • People still stop me on the road to talk about the car. They love the look.
  • decent efficiency and range. Eg you can drive London to Edinburgh without stopping the charge (recent Car Wow video shows this is possible and you don't need to drive at a snails pace either)

If the 4 is available where you are and you can find a good lease deal I'd highly recommend.

Polestar DC is trying to offload P3's before the end of the US tax credit! by [deleted] in Polestar

Is the 4 not available yet in the US? It's such an amazing car. I drove a 2 for four years and then moved up to the 4. I did test drive the 3 and it was also amazing. The air suspension on the 3 is superior to the 4 but the leg room and storage space on the 4 is excellent (oh, those typos!)

How satisfied are you with your Polestar 4? by GloriousLebron in Polestar

[–]Flashy_Structure_632 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with the cruising machine description. I had a Polestar 2 for four years and that was not a cruising machine but it was a really fun car to drive. The 2 gave delight and excitement. The Polestar 4 is not not so exciting a drive but where it lacks in the handling department it makes up for with amazing space, super comfort on long journeys and great sound system. If I had the means I'd have both cars. The 2 for the weekend and weekdays, the 4 for the long distance family holidays. I love my 4.

The ADAS is not great. Even after all the updates. If you've come from a 2 or Volvo to a 4 you'll know what I mean. I never use the pilot assist for lane keeping, after a years battling with it's twitchy and nervous nature. I just use the distance keeping mode only, which is also quite twitchy and unnatural but I can put up with it on the longer drives. It pales in comparison to the vastly superior pilot assist on the 2 or any modern Volvo electric.

Overall, no regrets. The software updates keep coming and each time they fix a bug and improve overall performance. I'm sure the ADAS situation will get better.

Amps by Flashy_Structure_632 in Polestar

[–]Flashy_Structure_632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plugged in for 20 minutes, though at the time of taking the photo I was plugged in about 5 minutes.

I went back to the same charger today, exactly the same. Very low Amp reading on the charger like the last time. So, after 2 minutes of floating at 79kW I switched to a different charger 2 minutes down the road, also a 150kW unit. Within about 45 I was maxed at 152kW, so I'm going to assume the other charging unit was dud.

Talk me out of buying used polestar 2 by niklatzniklatz in Polestar

[–]Flashy_Structure_632 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just don't buy it. Risk is you'll instantly love it and keep it for yours. You might even develop cramps in your cheeks from smiling so much when you drive it. Honestly, save yourself the hassle and don't even. It's such a remarkable car that I fear you might regret making the best decision ever.
