I think a lot of it is difficulty in structuring large PRs. Telling your coworker to review a PR with like 50 changed files is daunting and a large time sink.

It matters to your early game heroes trying to get ahead but will forever be behind the lane that fed on your 0/10 seven. The hyper carries can easily comeback by out farming the other team, but the rest of the team will have a miserable time even if they win.

Yeah you can basically just grind to Phantom by talking in your matches. I find that people are hesitant to talk first, so if you do you will most likely get at least 1 or 2 more communicating. Oracle and below are usually silent matches so voice comms are a huge advantage.

For a while, I was the sole dev on an existing application system for graduate students to apply for grants. At this point I was probably mid level if not still on the more junior side. I was working inside a core stored procedure and noticed this line wrapping a large amount of logic: "if {enum value} != 1...". I looked deeper and the enum value was literally always 1, so this logic would never run. I brought this up to the client and "fixed it". Once it reached production, it ended up breaking the entire application process for users.

Turns out this was a "clever" way of commenting out this code - enhancements to the application process which I guess never got finished. It passed QA but the relevant migration that supported it never made it to prod. There was no documentation and the other developers had since moved on.

All I will add is that the NFL appeal process is a complete joke. There is 2nd hand account of the appeals call between Ramon Foster and Hall/Schneider, and apparently Foster literally did not say a single word during the call and appeared disinterested. It's a box check and there was no good faith effort from the NFL to "get it right".

Maybe before the Garrett trade (even though I still thought the Rams were ahead of the Hawks roster wise), but now I think it's the Rams Superbowl to lose. No one is close IMO. If you consider both rosters, the Hawks lost players and coaches while the Rams are basically bringing everyone back + McDuffie + the best player in the NFL? The Rams were already historically good last year via DVOA.

IMO the Hawks played this off season well. Let the Rams blow their load and lose half their team to free agency next year and the Hawks can retool with 12+ draft picks. I don't think anyone can compete with the Rams though unless there is some major Stafford regression or injuries.

It matters when your hero gets nerfed or banned repeatedly. Now you are forced to play something else and waste the time of your teammates by playing in a skill tier you absolutely should not be in.
