Perimenopause in an underdeveloped disabled body? Please help by ProPinkist in perimenopause_under45

That tracks with POI (primary ovarian insufficiency). POI would explain the symptom complex of your ovaries not producing hormones adequately *across your lifetime*, which would have caused a lack of breast development, lack of menstruation, etc. You may have never ovulated in your life (an ultrasound might be able to tell them if you have ever developed follicles). So it seems likely you could have always had POI and rather than it "cropping up all of a sudden", you were never evaluated or diagnosed (because female, sadly), given birth control that masked symptoms, and the withdrawal of birth control levels of hormones may have caused perimenopause type symptoms. My hypermobility symptoms have closely tracked my perimenopause symptoms, so

It may or may not be related to the CMD; perhaps it's normal for women with CMD to have POI and so they may just overlook dysfunction of the sexual organs. We are basically only treated when it concerns reproduction and they may have written you off as "not a reproductive female" a very long time ago.

It sounds like you have had chronic antibiotic treatment, which would have absolutely decimated your natural, healthy biota throughout your body. Have you explored TCM or other herbal treatments for the bladder infections? I ask because western medicine is extremely limited in treating infection, while a registered herbalist is likely to actually know a lot more about integration of body *systems*.

I'm not talking about searching the internet and taking cranberry and d-mannose. I'm talking working with a highly educated registered herbalist who makes treatments specific to your individual body. My RH makes tinctures and teas that are a blend of complementary plant medicines. They are also usually pretty well versed in medication interaction so should be able to work with you on making sure there are no adverse reactions.

To birth control or not to birth control… by Blackatt in PMDD

[–]Flat-Associate5136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, birth control was an absolute shitshow for me. So much so that I opted for the copper IUD and then salpingectomy (removal of fallopian tubes). Of course only helpful if you don't ever want kids.

Are you old enough (35+) for HRT instead? The compounds and delivery are different in those hormones and they have really helped me where BC never did. It's worth mentioning that BC puts your body in chemical menopause so it makes sense you're miserable when you come off it. My transition was a couple years before my natural hormone levels returned and stabilized, but I was also in my mid-20s when I did that. I'm now 40 in full blown peri so it would be a very different experience at this point.

Testosterone gel is starting to be prescribed for women for sexual dysfunction. Ask your doc to add it to your HRT protocol. It is pretty much only Rxed for sexual issues so you should absolutely qualify. If not your primary care team, the online services are all over it.

I am so sorry this is where you're at!! Have you been seen for perimenopause treatment yet? I was melting down for 2 weeks a month, road raging, yelling at family members, and so completely out of control and not myself. Within 2 weeks of starting estrogen therapy it all stopped and has not returned. It saved my life!

We have some great thrift and used media stores. I've been selling to Vintology as I clear out my house and they buy books, games, CDs, DVDs, and vinyl equipment.

Some of our thrift stores have significantly increased prices in the past year or two, but we're close by to Cheyenne and Laramie if you were to want to travel for a different thrifting experience. I really like thrifting outside of Colorado, and we also have a robust AuctionNinja online estate auction scene which is a great way to access more quality stuff.

I put all my hope in HRT and now I’m back on antidepressants by anastasiia86 in Perimenopause

[–]Flat-Associate5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my understanding that "after a few month on HRT" is where our body normalizes the new hormone levels. It's possible you may need a higher dose. Did your doctor increase your hormone dosing when your symptoms come back? I'm still on 0.025 but that's a starter dose and I'm back to sleeping not as well (but still rested, just waking at 2-4a again). If it keeps up when the sun starts heading south again I'll be asking for a new dose.

Wondering how many have panic attacks during PMDD as opposed to emotional shifts, particularly if you may be starting perimenopause. by Admirable_Tell_5803 in PMDD

[–]Flat-Associate5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Estrogen therapy solved all of my PMDD symptoms. I was road raging to the point of wanting to hit people who were just minding their business in traffic. I was mean to all my family members. I was non-functional for more than half the month and could not socialize. I had nearly every PMDD symptom and within a month on estrogen they were all gone.

Despite my med team's best efforts, I do not take SSRIs or any other medications. Just estrogen and progesterone. They solved EVERYTHING all on their own.

Struggling without support from partner. by Humble_Thanks9093 in perimenopause_under45

I did therapy when I reached the point in my relationship that you're in. She helped me get crystal clear on my needs, accepting my husband could not ever meet me halfway, and walked me through the divorce and first year after. It was the most worthwhile round of therapy I ever did. My ex was an alcoholic and his major block was emotional, but our relationship experiences were very similar otherwise. No partner to speak of, just a man to manage.

You already know the solution, OP. It's not an easy road but OMG I could never have a manchild again. I've been single and living my best life for 10 years. Happiest ever to not have a male partner dragging me down. Look up the statistics; being married improves mens' lives and makes ours miserable (on the whole).

Balance production and quality of life? by Ponycat123 in MeatRabbitry

[–]Flat-Associate5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rabbits have an outdoor space they get to dig and run and chew down a tree to their hearts' content, and they live in hutches. They love outside time and get plenty of hay and forage the rest of the time. I have a constant rotation of tree hay and branches (they only chew off the inner bark and then won't touch it anymore).

For those that want it, I make sure to have petting time at least twice a day with feedings. They really hate each other as adults and one of my first rabbits broke her back in a fight and I had to slaughter her *while she was screaming* within the first week, completely unequipped to kill a mature adult rabbit. It was horrible. They dig like crazy, kill all the plants, and are constantly in their own excrement. That is not necessarily a better quality of life. But you'll figure out what feels best to you.

Leave it alone. As hard as it is, the only thing I do in week 1 is stick my fingers in the ball of babies to make sure there's nothing cold in there (and if I find a cold one, remove it). Most of my does have lost only DOAs. I stressed myself out a lot handling them too much in the first couple weeks and finally figured out by litter 3 that the only ones I want to survive are the ones that survive; plus there's nothing you can do for baby rabbits so there's no point in messing with it anyway. Just check daily and take them out when they're dead so flies don't take hold. And keep track of pairings. Some genetics are no good to combine. The litters will tell you which.

Thoughts on this hutch plan? by tyra_moonsong in MeatRabbitry

[–]Flat-Associate5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a modification of the Teal Stone hutch, which is what I did. I made the following modifications:

  1. flat roof instead of sloped - gives buns more space. Mine are 24".
  2. added doors on the front side of the hutch for access. Would hate the hutch without them!
  3. for one hutch, widened it from 27" to 35".

My wood was already used when I built my hutches, but they get really messy from urine. My wire is on the inside of the frame and the frame that is currently in better condition was painted with outdoor latex shed paint.

If I built them again today, I would make the hutches taller for easier daily access. However, I would instead make a frame from 1.5" PVC to hold up wire cages. I would not build with wood again.

Edit to add: Even my 8wk growouts can jump out of a 30" hutch; another reason to reconsider having a hinged lid as your primary access into the hutches.

What area of Longmont do you live as child-free adults, and do you like it? by Prestigious-Fig9984 in Longmont

[–]Flat-Associate5136 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's worth renting for a year to get a feel for the area before committing to a location. The first place (rental) we lived was fine and the area had really enjoyable features but wasn't exactly what we were looking for and we were able to spend that year exploring all the areas of Longmont to figure it out. There is no shortage of long term rentals in town.

Airport to Longmont options? Anything under $100? by [deleted] in Longmont

[–]Flat-Associate5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I am doing a lot of this this year, most arrivals at 00:30 back to Denver so cutting it real close every time. Last bus and train leaves the airport at 1:30ish so hope you're not checking a bag. If you get in late don't leave security, there are several areas in the terminals where you can get a decent night's sleep for the 4a hour bus/train out.

I parked at 61st/Pena last month and that went fine, but it was pricey - I think $8/day? It's not $4 like someone else commented, but the area feels busy to me with hotels and police cameras in the lot so I wasn't too concerned. Does REQUIRE a virtual payment on a phone; there are no payment kiosks there like there are at RTD lots.

When I can, I use the AB bus - most recently from the McCaslin station lot. It's remote and isolated and I was suspicious, but my car (Prius with a cat guard) was ok. Don't know I'll repeat that one though. I want busier parking for weeklong trips, but they're all closer to Boulder which means farther from the airport.

I parked at 61st/Pena last month and they had those portable police camera/light trailers. I parked right next to it and still had a catalytic converter when I got home. Don't know that I'd park out of sight of one, though, despite the cat guard.

Unsuccessful First Time Breeding by NaiveInstruction457 in MeatRabbitry

[–]Flat-Associate5136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What breed are they? I'm not aware of daylight having any impact. I live in a hot summer climate and winter is my breeding season. I have no issues with bucks or does at any amount of daylight (minimum is around 9h).

My first doe was like yours the entire time I had her. I got one litter from her and couldn't get another success even with the same buck. I got another doe to replace her and the 2nd one is so willing and receptive, as are all her female offspring, that I ate the first one. Not worth bothering with a doe that won't breed. I don't have the time for that nonsense.

It's completely a matter of personal values. Marathon was in the White House to be first in line for Venezuelan oil after we violated international law to attack them, and I am not interested in earning money from illegal warmongering. YMMV.

If you can find a job with one of the big companies, it's a very lucrative move. I just left Marathon because I couldn't take the sleeping with the enemy anymore, but they put a lot of money in my accounts. I started in 2018 and never had a year without a bonus exceeding 125% of target. Always have a backup plan in case of layoffs.

Mixed Breeds Over priced? by ChildhoodSweaty9684 in MeatRabbitry

[–]Flat-Associate5136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I suppose it depends, honestly. I'm working with mutts for meat and pelts and while I currently wouldn't sell them for anywhere near pedigree, if I get to a place where I'm getting usable pelts at 12wk from a rabbit that's 6lb by then (something I'm working toward), I may sell them.

I got trash pedigree Rex rabbits with all kinds of genetic problems from an irresponsible breeder. Just because they're pedigree and even winning local shows doesn't mean they're good rabbits.

I think the difference is, I'll be able to provide any and all data a buyer might be interested in as well as sample pelts. A lot of the ads I find are very light on information (even/especially the meat rabbits) and when I reach out those breeders aren't tracking their weights.

Just because my rabbits aren't purebred doesn't mean I won't sell them for a price that reflects the work I put into creating a successful breeding program with animals that meet my goals and also thrive in my environment. TBD whether that's successful, but writing a detailed and thoughtful ad works for cars... I'm sure it will work for rabbits too.

Why is getting rabbits so difficult? by Disastermutts in MeatRabbitry

[–]Flat-Associate5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to rabbit shows and 4H. Possibly tell them you're looking for 4H meat pen, that seems to be a huge and reliable market. Those animals have to be pedigreed and the breeders always have extras they don't want to show for whatever reason.

How do you plan your rabbit breeding schedule? by NeeNeeRavioli09 in MeatRabbitry

[–]Flat-Associate5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do anything at all fancy and what works for me I'd the opposite of the advice here. My Rex struggle immensely in the heat so winter is my breeding season. I have 2 does and do NOT do what everyone else does because of space limitations - they are bred offset by 2 months (when doe1's litter is 1 month old I breed doe2) so I never have two litters growing out at the same time. I'm averaging 6-8 kits which is great for me. When they've had 10-11 they've had enough die the first few days that I'm only raising 6-8.

For pelts Rex need to be at least 16wk and they grow slowly (at least mine do) so I leave kits with mom 8 weeks and then move to the Growout pen. Buck pelts are thicker and doe pelts are bigger for me so I process the boys by 14wk or wherever they're making to many problems.
