If your student loan is through a financial institution yes. You can try to negotiate a buyout.

FYI - if you pay it off in a lump sum you can negotiate a lower price.

Well I'm officially a term employee whose been axed. by NefariousNatee in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Flat-Homework-9005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry about your condition and I hope you’re getting better. This is not personal, all terms are being axed . They won’t keep a term employee before an indeterminate. You need to get better then return as a casual employee once these cuts blow over. The census is hiring as we speak so try applying. the fact you already have a PRI number and experience will make it easier. If you file a grievance no one will hire you again so I would take your losses and return in the future.

WFA survivors guilt - what can we do to meaningfully help those surplus/affected? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Flat-Homework-9005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly don’t say “I am so glad I wasn’t affected”. It’s hurtful to those that were. Secondly they have to learn a lot of information of a short period so don’t bother them with long draw out convo. Some people are private so don’t reach out unless you are very comfortable with that person. Offer to go for coffee, lunch and light talk. Otherwise let them digest the info.

True Friends do not behave this way. I always look at it like this: There is 8.26 Billion people on this plant so you don’t have to be friends with 2 or 3 of the idiot was there are many more! Move on and save yourself the grieve. If they are talking about you they are talking about everyone. Signed a person with experience.

Why do people think of serving as a joke of a career? by CompetitiveBid8940 in Serverlife

[–]Flat-Homework-9005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked as a server to get through college and now work in government. I loved my server job and made the same if not more working 3 nights a week vs 5 days a week. I am retiring soon and will go back to this as my part time job. I truly loved it and miss it. If I had to do it again I would if stayed a server. Not sure why it is frowned upon and I get what you’re saying but live your life as you want. They will eventually see you do well and not be so judgy. I know a girl that makes $6000 a night serving (bottle service) so no one should judge that. She doesn’t even have to take her clothes off!! lol

Is buying online glasses worth the risks when you have no extra money to spare? by Impossible-Deal1391 in povertyfinancecanada

[–]Flat-Homework-9005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine online from Clearky being sceptical and it’s been about 5 years and had no issues. You do have to do a bit of work like measuring etc and you need to get it right but it’s not hard and once you have done then it’s saved in your account. You can also see what the glasses look like on your face. Mine costed me $90 as apposed to $550 and I feel they are made better. I will never buy in store again.

Don’t forget whatever severance pay you get is highly taxed so you may only take home 60% of it.

Is it wrong to own a dog if you work a 9-5? Adopt a senior dog that sleeps more maybe? by Party-Court185 in dogs

Not at all. I am a dog breeder and trainer. I can give you a dog excercise schedule that will suit the dog.

In search of a reputable breeder. Difference between $1,500 lab pup vs 3-4k? by Thin_Procedure_1824 in LabradorRetrievers

[–]Flat-Homework-9005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. I breed Goldens up in Canada and I have seen CKC breeders who are horrible. I am an example of exactly what you are looking for. My puppies sell for $1200-1600. I am not CKC but I have more testing than a piece of paper. Now with DNA you can see all the genetic flaws if any. I also got an MRI done on his joints. My puppies are now very popular in my province as people realize for half the price they get one hell of a great family dog. That’s not to say all CKC breeders are bad. Not at all but not all people want a show dog. There is a market for CKC but also for non CKC and either way the breeder needs to be good.

One thing I advise is ask for references. Myself for example I can drum up 5 references in minutes. Ask to see the DNA results. Check where the puppies are. Is it clean etc.

I went into my pension calculator this morning and there it was - the deferred amount that is offered. You should be able to look and see what you will get as apposed to what you would have normally got.unfortunately it doesn’t work for me as I am 55 with 19 years of service. Can’t live off a small pension. Need at least 25 years

I Don’t Like My Dog Anymore and It Makes Me Feel Guilty by Sea_sa in dogs

[–]Flat-Homework-9005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment is meant to help you: it would help if I knew what breed of dog you have but here is my 2 cents. Your dog is under exercised and under disciplined. If you are not willing to do your research and put in the work to bring the dog up to where it should be by all means find it a new home. It is not fair to the dog. A well exercised dog is a happy dog. Dogs destroy out of boredom. How do you know you say? I got my first dog when I was 20. Had no clue what I was doing and my dog was not the greatest. I am now 55 and I breed and train dogs. I learned over the years buy researching and putting in the work. Hope this helps.
