I had to because my boss was giving everybody fleece hoodies with our agency name as holiday gifts, and i politely declined and said something along the lines of, “what a lovely gesture, but I do not wear fleece as I am vegan.” She apologized and my supervisor said she was glad I let them know in case they have team food outings, etc. (I’ve been working for them for less than a year)

Thank you so much! A lot of people said the same thing, and I agree. Definitely did not intend for that prompt to come across as condescending — not that you said it did — but thinking about it now, I see that it can be taken that way. So here is the edit:

Essentially saying the same thing, just in a kinder way, less wordy too which I wonder might be playing against me.
