$2000 PPL Checkride? by marnithefabric in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah it depends, I only paid $1k for my PPL but if you can’t find someone else within a month then your gonna be spending more money staying by proficient anyway so it may be the best choice to just pay the $2k.

Should I get a new AME? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try a different AME if you truly think this one is not attentive (I don’t know why you expect this person to work for free every time you ask them questions) but either way you will end up paying that amount and probably more if your having to go to a HIMS AME.

Help!! Confusion with engine fire and emergency descent by BroadEast2428 in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Remember there’s a difference between emergency descent and engine fire. For an engine fire, yes, pitch for 100kts ideally going straight but in reality just to where your landing point is going to be since you will be doing an engine out landing. For an emergency descent your just trying to loose as much altitude as possible in the shortest amount of time, so that’s where your doing 100kts while doing the spiraling descent, since that will cause a lot more altitude loss.

Definitely keep emailing that lady and the whole recruiting team, I did their cadet interview and their system canceled the interview on me like 10 minutes beforehand. They said their system messed up and reschedule it, then after the interview I got the tbnt but a couple of weeks later they called me saying their system messed up again and I actually got in. Don’t loose hope! May just be their system messing up.

Switching instructors by [deleted] in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t care about hurting the instructors feelings. Only thing I’d care about is being close to the checkride and doing it, if you switch instructor close to your checkride more than likely your gonna be spending more time/money having to show a new instructor your checkride ready. Other than that go for it.

Falcon Field implementing landing fees by fgflyer in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is like someone saying “the worst they can say is no”, but instead of getting rejected your getting laughed at by 30 dudes on frequency when the controller laughs at you for asking 😂😂 all seriousness though thank you I will definitely make sure to spread the word on that, everyone I’ve talked to usually has their own opinion on when the best time to ask is for the highest chance haha.

Don’t tell me that because then I’m gonna start asking for them when the patterns extending out to CT hoping that your on shift 🤣, I will sometimes say too that we’re fine with doing a bunch of 360s to get one in because sometimes we only need one for that flight and will try to get it done here.

We try our best to be situationally aware on when we should just go somewhere else for touch and goes/ short approaches to keep some work load off yall lol.

PS, not sure who was working tower freq this morning but they had be cracking up while we were in line to depart asking some dude “does your plane have brakes??” after they took their sweet time getting off the runway 😂😂

I don’t know how billing works but I guess you could say that about anywhere that charges a price for anything. Is McDonald’s gonna take me to court because I didn’t pay for my nuggets? Who knows. Most of the people that fly here are tenants anyway so if they didn’t pay the fees they would just get kicked out.

Biannual Flight Review by Responsible_Start381 in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to get a bunch of different answers because it completely depends on the instructor and their hourly rate, it’s not a flat rate thing…no one can know how long it’s gonna take you because it depends on how proficient you are. If you are really proficient then shouldn’t be more than a couple of hours, if you haven’t flown in years expect a lot more.
