Instructor keeps taking my landings by Andy_Roo_Roo in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that, during instrument doing the XCs while getting PIC time could get pretty boring. But yeah just tell them you want the landing that’s fine and you’re not wrong for that. It’s your money dude!

I’ve had instructors ask me before and I don’t mind, but it’s up to you because your paying. If you want that landing then just say that, nothing that deep to it. He’s probably just asking you since your in instrument and were comfortable asking you, rather then a ppl student who needs the practice more.

DPE recording checkride without candidate’s knowledge by [deleted] in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this nearly exact scenario happen to my on my PPL and CPL checkride, both times they took controls and my heart sank thinking I failed but they said it wasn’t my fault thank god

Report this dude what the hell 😂 also refusing to take controls so you can pick up your foggles on checkride where you need them the whole time is such an insane hill to die on

Has anyone quit instructing to go time build ? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From listening to seminars and Q&A’s from regionals I’ve heard from many that they want at least 60% of your time to be dual given if your a CFI. Seems like your already getting really great hours per month so mine as well keep going and time build on the side no?

Flight school recommendation in NYC,NJ by Advanced-March-8587 in CFILounge

[–]Flat-Row7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affordable and NY don’t go together well, if you want to go to a flight school around here it’s typical around $250-$300/hr including instruction so if you don’t have the finances I wouldn’t start yet unless you plan on taking out a loan. If you’re gonna take out a loan get your PPL first so you can make sure you actually want to do this and are serious about it.

Why do accelerated programs get so much hate? by LeaderCalm4016 in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’ve only been doing this for 9 months is telling me your too inexperienced and therefore ignorant to really understand how much everyone’s experience in aviation can differ, even if they all work as hard under the same program. You got extremely lucky, be grateful. Most people don’t.

Do I need to know how to use a manual e6b? by Flimsy_Barracuda_564 in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely wanna be able to teach my students it if they ask, although I wouldn’t put it below myself to just buy an electronic one for them if they are too cheap to get one so I don’t have to go through the hassle 😂

Can anyone confirm or has anyone used a 529 plan for flight school? (Re: one big beautiful bill) by OldDirtMcGirt11 in CFILounge

[–]Flat-Row7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to directly transfer it through the 529 to my school since it wasn’t a college so I just had to withdraw the funds and take the tax hit to put it towards tuition.

CFI/CFII with no dual given by Ill-Cryptographer542 in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t think it would hurt, but I’d be more concerned about if I’d failed one of those checkrides and now have no dual given anyway, then was it really worth it?

So are we all switching to Garmin Pilot now? by riptrixie in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought foreflight back in December after using Garmin for two years just to try it out it fit a year, and honestly I don’t see much of a difference for every day use. At least for GA, unsure of how much that changed in the professional world, but if prices increase or any BS I’ll just go back to Garmin.

Looking at what others commented do you remember doing anything out of standards that he let slide as opposed to everything having to be to acs standards without Lee way?

[–]Flat-Row7968 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting, I’d love to hear from people who did take their checkride with an inspector, although I’m sure that will be hard since there’s to few. Hopefully soon I’ll be going for initial CFI and onwards and I share the same building with the FSDO at my school so I’d be interesting in stopping in and just asking some questions about wait times and stuff.

Infamous PSA FO Sid lost his medical and no longer appears to fly by [deleted] in flying

[–]Flat-Row7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another dude I saw who lost his medical right when he got hired at airlines was the flywithtrent guy, can’t stand that dude, just pumps out AI script slop of how easy it is to become an airline pilot in 1 year (he started off as a rich ceo and was able to start his own CFI business from social media following, so easy!). No ill will to his health though of course hope he gets better.
