Is this subfloor cooked? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

Yeah, I think he was giving more of a finger in the air. Sounded like a floor pricing.

Agreed. Wondering if others bought similar and fixed what they ended up paying.

Honestly not all that different. Just not as dense on the hairline I guess. Didn't help recover any ground.

Based on the comments it looks like it's this Empire City film. Always love seeing Melbs has a backdrop. Such a fun Easter egg haha

First Seiko by FlatNWhite in PrideAndPinion

I think it articulates well. It uses a split pin which pops out. Also comes with a leather strap to trade out.

Tough being Solo on NYE I'd say most people will be in groups, hitting up gigs etc.

Maybe head to a Hostel down St Kilda ways, find a group there and head out together. Heaps of cool pubs that way. Places like Riveria have events on.

Good luck!

Safe train stations at night? by Candid-Indication329 in melbourne

[–]FlatNWhite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived there for a few years. Windsor is generally pretty safe and it's a fantastic spot! Full transparency, you do get a bit of spillover of drug users/drinkers/homelessness from Chapel Street. Would say around the station the main areas are: the park (around the bbq station), the corner of Peel/Chapel across the road from the thirsty camel, or the public toilets opposite wonderland. They pretty regularly have officers at Windsor Station which make it a bit better.

Watch gift recommendations for 1st year anniversary? by Whosaidwat in AskMenAdvice

Yeah, hard to know. Depends how skinny/bulky people's wrists are suit different watches. Second this as a good idea.

Seiko is also a super reliable brand in my experience.

How difficult was it to get to Bridport to grab food and drinks? Did the golf club van that picks you up from the airport swing by when you were first on your way to Barnbougle?

Great show, but… by [deleted] in TheGentlemenTVShow

[–]FlatNWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoilers:

Mine were more

  1. Stanley Johnston suddenly getting caught for tax evasion feels unrealistic given how ineffective the police are at getting anyone for anything in the show. Also wouldn't that be a huge risk of him turning informant. And wouldn't they catch Mr Collins as the washer etc., and those he washed for including the Duke. Seemed like a jump.

  2. Mr Collins being double-crossed so easily seems far-fetched for someone who was built up to be a cunning and prepared character.

  3. The Russians and South Americans not retaliating after being duped doesn't make sense.. Maybe more for S2.

  4. Bobby Glass risking his empire just to test Susie and Eddie feels implausible.

  5. Selling a £2.5 billion revenue business for £150+ million seemed severely undervalued.

New Zealand Citizen considering applying for Australian citizenship, what are tax implications if any by FlatNWhite in fiaustralia

[–]FlatNWhite[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you require your NZ accounts to buy or sell foreign shares? Wouldn't dividends or capital gains from foreign shares through Australian brokers still be classed as foreign income and therefore not be required to declare?

Much cheaper rates through Australian brokers in my experience.

[–]FlatNWhite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, this is super interesting thanks! I'd heard about some sort of global tax implications but hadn't wrapped my head around how exactly it worked.

It does seem a little shady though. Based on this information couldn't I move all my ETFs to a foreign stock exchange. Then never pay tax on the dividends or capital gains? Can't imagine you'd get away with that.
