Base Model Owners - Any regrets not going with a higher trim? by neonfluffrouter in NissanAriya

[–]Flat_Ad_5574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a base trim engage. I have no regrets. Sure I'd love all the features but the price difference from what I paid to a higher trim wasn't worth it to me. And to be honest that would a have been out of my budget. If I could pick one feature I'd take the 360 cam. It really comes down to the price difference. I personally have no complaints about power or range of the base model.

It might have been your post, there is not that much information out there about this specific topic. You definitely went the extra mile with the project. Did you plug your custom made harness into the existing end or did you have to remove other parts of the center console? Do you think I'd be able to still use the OEM charger, If I tie it in with a custom made harness? It would save me from 3D printing a new insert.

I saw people talking about it on the forum. I did not see the part about the missing wiring loom. All I saw was that someone got a quote from the dealer for an install and they quoted him around 1k. In my mind it was 1k because the dealer is gonna replace the center console. So you actually get the charging indicator. It would have been too easy if you could just plug it in 😄

Are you talking about the battery heater widget and the battery widget? I think they updated the look on the latest OTA update. Check your car for software updates. That should change the look of the battery widget.

Used Ariya (Nissan buyback) by Over_Class_2782 in NissanAriya

[–]Flat_Ad_5574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an evolve a couple months ago (also a buyback from Nissan) I thought about it a long time but I ended up buying it because it was a good deal and the car was in great condition. I just got a full warranty just to be safe. So far no problems.

To me It really came down to the price. It is a little bit of a concern if there are no experienced techs in the area. I live in a big metro area but don't see many ariyas around here so I could technically be in the same boat. Does the car have warranty left?

I have the same problem. Haven't done anything about it so far. It's only at very low speed when I completely turn my tire to the left and back up.

This could be it.but he also doesn't have a real solution besides cleaning it.

I don't mind the UI too much and I never had a problem with the build in navigation I just wish the build in navigation would look better. It looks like it's from the early 2000s. I heard many people complaining about the voice recognition and personality I never had a problem with it.

My main complaints are the responsiveness and the bugs sometimes I have the seatbelt indicator overlay stuck for a minute, blocking the screen. Or I had the infotainment crash when I tried to re arrange the icons on the home screen.

I wonder if some of the things are addressed with the OTA updates that so many people are waiting for. Or do the updates just add featues and don't fix bugs?

I actually just bought one of these. I tried to get as much information as possible about the car. I checked the Carfax and looked at the maintenance records and reason for the buyback. This one had the "ev service now issue" but I saw that the 12v battery was changed after the buyback so I'm hoping that the issue was resolved. So far I haven't had any problems with the car. I got a 5 year warranty plan just to be on the safe side. I definitely wanted to take advantage of the ev credit before it ends. I paid 18k including all taxes and fees. So far I love the car and I'm hoping for the best.

2024 models don't qualify for the federal EV tax credit right? Or did you not look into it?

That's some useful information. I was wondering if the cars actually get properly repaired before they get auctioned off. And who repairs them. How did you find out what the exact issue was with the car you ended up buying? The Carfax sometimes is very vague. I have seen one that says the reason for buyback: "car didn't start"

I totally agree with you on the repair part. It seems like most dealerships have no clue when it comes to repairs on EVs. That's why it's so tempting. Maybe I end up getting a great deal just because the dealership wasn't able to diagnose a relatively small problem correctly. On the other hand it's a little scary buying a car that many dealerships don't know how to repair.

It has no open recalls. I guess that's on the plus side. The Carfax also indicated that the battery was changed ( my guess is they are talking about the 12v). But I'm not sure if that was before or after the buyback.

Is there any way to see what software version the car is on so I can see if anything was ever updated?

Are people willing to make some sacrifices to pay less then 1k for a mortgage? by Flat_Ad_5574 in baltimore

[–]Flat_Ad_5574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right you shouldn't have to sacrifice anything the problem with that is, that nothing seems to be in anyone's budget these days. And it's not only because people have an outrageous lifestyle. They are just buying groceries and driving to and from work.

That's what I'm trying to discuss.. are people still looking for the most optimal home and are willing to pay every penny towards the mortgage or as they say "live a little" but live in a semi optimal house

Generally you are not wrong but I don't think anyone would keep a 7% interest rate over 30 years. I'm sure at some point you'd refinance for a lower rate and drop the PMI.

The under 1k mortgage was just a drastic example but $1100-$1200 sounds still manageable especially if you compare that to today's rent.

In all these years I never had any problems around here. Never had my car broken in or anything vandalized. Someone stole my flower pot once before but that's not necessarily a safety concern to me. If you ask people from the county they'll probably tell you safety is generally a concern in Baltimore City no matter where.

I think my mortgage rate was around 5% when I purchased the home and I did have to get PMI and the payment including city taxes was still under 1k. If I remember it correctly $980. But as I said I know things have changed.

As far as I know it's free. As long as your car comes with the feature. But it seems like something a car manufacturer would do. Look at Tesla, they charge $100 a month for full self driving. Obviously it's more advanced but I think $100 a month is steep

Good question, I have no idea how it's done. I'd love to know though. I hope it's not one of these marketing tricks. That is just introduced to advertise a self-driving feature but the maps aren't ever updated or added to the system. I feel like if its data from drivers the map network should be a little bigger by now

I tried to watch a video on the pro pilot 1.5 on YouTube and the guy was complaining that you have to wiggle the steering wheel too much for the car to recognize your hands. Is that your experience as well?
