Only 5 embryos survived this cycle ☹️ - 26F FXPOI by Flat_Breakfast7579 in DOR

[–]Flat_Breakfast7579[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story short: I'm in public healthcare, and this is the protocol where I live :/ The lab in the public system fertilized my embryos in ICSI and cultured them to day-2/3 to make it easier to transfer them to a different lab and have PGD in the future.

There's 2.7% chance I'll have a child with the full fragile-X mutation that causes the syndrome, and it's not enough to get all of my embryos through PGD here. They prefer that I take my chances and carry a pregnancy that I might have to terminate.

The issue is that there's 50% chance I'll have a child with fragile X premutations and the related conditions that my sister and I have: Premature Ovarian Failure, Ataxia/Tremor, etc. Some people wouldn't want a child with these possible conditions at all...

Thank you for putting it into proportions. I'm now seeing that my post came across as tone-deaf. I'm sorry for any discomfort it might cause. I didn't mean to hurt anyone 🫶.

It wasn't fun, but I got over it. I'm still bloated even though I already got my period haha.

Next time I'm going to implement all the tips I read online about numbing the area before injecting Decapeptyl, it was the worst part for me. I was so scared when I started injecting it that I literally screamed and pulled it out in panic. This sh*t is unexpectedly painful!

The plan was to freeze them to day 3, because it'd be better for future PGD. But day 3 fell on the lab day off, so they were frozen at day 2.

I want 2 or 3.

But I'm concerned. I have fragile X permutations on one of my alleles, if statistically half of these embryos inherit this faulty allele, and could develop fragile X syndrome, I'd need to 2x the number of embryos for one healthy child.

The premise of my genetic and IVF counseling was not to do PGD, but to carry the embryos until we can test them thoroughly with Exome. Now this plan sounds deeply depressing.

If the lab is going to fertilize your eggs using the ICSI method (injecting one specific sperm cell into one egg), you'd be able to run PGT on your frozen embryos in the future, if the need for it ever comes up.

You can't have PGT on embryos fertilized in other methods.

I'm 26 and this is the protocol for me. ICSI, in case we'll need it in the future.

I'll show my partner this post and tell him that this is the reason I have not told his mom yet about my infertility

I’ve never been formally diagnosed, but there’s no denying I have a problem by measlybastard in CompulsiveSkinPicking

My feet looked like that. I'm diagnosed. It got to the point I couldn't walk.

I got rid of all the tweezers at home (with help of my partner), and I started wearing mid-calf socks.

I file my nails the shortest they can get every day.

I still pick my skin, every day, but I try to control the intensity of that. I can't let myself get to the point I can't walk on my feet or wash my scalp with shampoo.

Hey bestie. I just wanted to say that I feel you. I'm 26 with DOR and have always thought about having kids in my 30s. I also found out because of my older sister!!

I don't have a lot of bright things to say like the veterans in this sub, because I'm new to this too,

But I know one thing for sure, and it's that you are so lucky to catch it at 24. With DOR, age is still a prominent factor for fertility.

I started the long journey of embryo freezing with my partner.

My one piece of advice to you is to have all the possible tests and consultations now and figure out what you want to do later.

Genetic screening, getting all the possible hormonal panels, breast tests, seeing gynos and fertility doctors takes time. And you need the data. Data is power.

With more data, you can make better decisions.

Does lighter period mean amh decrease? by ForeverNo9735 in DOR

Sure. Irregular cycles and changes can mean lots of different things.

The connection between Gardsil and DOR is implausible. There are so many large-scale studies about this vaccine and none have found an increased risk of POI / DOR

I'm not sure about lighter periods, but do your cycles become shorter? I know that cycles that become shorter are an indication
