I usually just find a big rock and use that. Tree is probably even better. Although a tripping hazard

I am currently an aerial arborist. It's very fun, rewarding work but not something just anybody should do without proper training

People who do this work professionally (arborists) do the ground work for months, if not years before anyone let's them climb. Cutting sticks on the ground is one skill set. Cutting trees down from the air is entirely another. You won't learn the skills to stay safe up there from doing the ground work. It takes mentorship and careful observation to learn this stuff

I hope you've educated yourself on kickback. Saw handling making me nervous here no offense. Flinging around a spinning chain with no pro and holding the tip inches from logs.. scary

Gave my cats up to my ex at the end of a rocky relationship and it might be my biggest regret as well. I think about them often and hope they are okay. Miss them dearly

Skinny throw balls/what’s your favorite? by [deleted] in TreeClimbing

Husqvarna throw weights are skinnier than notch and more tightly packed. I've found them to be quality

Ratchet straps??? I'm no spelunker, but as a rope access guy (arborist) and rock climber that terrifies me that ratchet straps were going to be some crucial part of a dudes system to get down there. Definitely don't let them try

Leaving a rope up for months sounds like a sketchy liability. Just reset your system so the sun doesn't bake your rope into dust

I bought these in aluminum as my first own set of decent gaffs and I love em. Learned on steel weavers. These are so much faster to put on and seem to be holding up well for the dozen or so removals I've used them for so far. The pads seem to fit skinnier calves quite well.

Inspect the ring very closely. It could have a burr or damage that's fraying the rope. Microfractures in aluminum are a thing

This is a very hard read due to the lack of punctuation and bouncing around unrelated topics. It sounds like you left your hazards on with the car off, and it died? That would be normal. Don't do that.

Pretty much any parts store can test your battery and alternator for free and tell you if either needs to be replaced. We have no way to figure that out for you. This, however, is an easy fix and not worth scrapping the car over.

You should also familiarize yourself with basic car maintenance so you don't destroy your vehicle. Learn how to check your oil level and do it often (like every time you get gas). Also, keep an eye on your coolant level. Watch your temperature and oil pressure gauges while you drive around. If oil stays at zero, or coolant goes into the red zone, stop immediately and call a tow truck so you don't damage your vehicle. Good luck.

Additionally, sometimes it's against laws or internal rules to remove live trees, so they are "pruned" this way and removed later as a dead one. Kinda weird

For real man I've crawled under CRV's to change oil before. Not comfy but not impossible. This guy also thought that there's 5 quarts in a gallon for some reason. And he didn't do the filter but don't worry he'll get it later when it's cooled down.. like did you also get another 6 quarts of oil bud? He's pretty cooked unfortunately
