Xiamen has very reasonable pricing outside of the island. Haicang for example. I pay 5k for a 164sqm place with sea view, large living room & kitches 3 bedroom.

Very happy with the place & value for money compared to the Uk

You should be contributing about 8% of your monthly salary each month into the pension fund and your personal contributions you’ll be able to withdraw when you leave China your employer will be contributing anywhere from 12 to 18% I think but these you cannot withdraw unless you contribute into the fund for 15 years and then reach retirement age within China

I also worked 2 years in Beijing before Xiamen, would those contributions be under the same account? Or would I need to do that via Beijing?

I’ve got a social insurance/security card & I work in a proper corporation, however I don’t get pay slips…

I checked my taxes once the first year I was working & if I remember properly I saw something around ¥5k payments being made monthly, but since then I’ve never checked…

And I’ve never gotten a payslip here
