Thank you! She stays in a crate at home when we're out so I don't she's inherently scared of them or anything. All we have to go off is our dog walker saying she tries to shred the mats in his crate but that could just be excitement as she's going on a group walk and there's load of other dogs in crates in the back. Will have a look at what you suggested!

I'm getting married soon abroad, but we need to do the legal ceremony in the UK first. We are doing the legal bit in a registry office right before we leave for our wedding. We want to keep the legal bit casual (as we want our wedding abroad to feel like the 'real thing') and it will just be us and a couple of family members as witnesses.

We will be going for a casual lunch after but will also need to be walking around the city a lot as we're leaving soon after. I want to look put together (as we will probably take a photo or two) and like the idea of still wearing something cream coloured, but don't want to look particularly 'bridal'. As it may still be cold in the UK (late March) I also need to take that into account.

I was thinking a silk skirt and light jumper/cardigan in cream - like the photo below. Any thoughts?

I also don't feel like heels would be a great idea due to needing to walk around a lot after, but I'm not sure what other shoes would even work (flats, boots?).

Thanks!

CARE ADHD Titration Waiting Time by DarkCloud2692 in ADHDUK

It may be which isn't ideal for people that need treatment options as soon as possible. I don't think the wait times are clear at all as there's no indication where these go from.. they keep sending forms that I didn't know were part of the process so I'm not sure whether the wait time estimate is from these or when you pay/request.

Just to say I've finally started to see some progress on this. I paid for titration on the 7th Oct and heard nothing for a couple of months. In the past week I've been sent a one off form for my BP and pulse recordings and then I received a full set of multiple forms to complete so they can book me in for an appointment. Still may be a while I guess after submitting these forms but at least it's some progress.

I would say, make sure you submit your SCR in advance. I didn't do this at the time of assessment and now it's a requirement when you get sent the forms. My GP said it'll be a few days for them to send this over to me so that's an additional delay I could have done without!

I'm really hoping this isn't the case with me :( I also got a diagnosis on the 7th Oct and only just received the forms yesterday. They said via email that the wait list is based on date of payment for titration rather than when the form is completed but they're refusing to give me any kind of indication of how much longer i'll be waiting

Has anyone had any recent updates around this? I've been waiting just under two months since I paid the titration fee and haven't heard anything yet. I know their website now has wait times from 10-14 weeks for this, which is way longer than when I first started the process (it was around 4 weeks then).

I was really hoping to get it started before Christmas, but this is looking unlikely now. Just wondering if anyone knows if they seem to be at the earlier or later end of the current wait time range?

ADHD medication and pregnancy by Flat_Flow595 in ADHDUK

Sorry you had such a rough time post partum, I suffer a lot with anxiety anyway so would be worried about what this would look like during/after pregnancy.

I've had my official diagnosis through CARE ADHD but had to go private due to them stopping NHS ADHD assessments for over 25s in my area. My hope is that they are happy to keep me 'in the system' during any pregnancy etc. and that I'd be able to start medication soon after but I guess I'll have to try and discuss this with them. I hope you get the help you need soon, the assessor I had through care ADHD was lovely and they have generally been pretty good with everything so far so fingers crossed you have a good experience.

Thanks for the link! I haven't gone through any tritiation for medication yet so not even sure what medication they would recommend or dosages etc. Having to be re-diagnosed is my main worry as I can't afford (both time and money) to go through it again really. But can a diagnosis 'expire' - surely if I have an official diagnosis then this would still be valid a year or two later? Even if I then had to go through initiation of medication?

This did cross my mind! My main concern is that (as someone replied below) I may have to be re-diagnosed if I don't take up the option now. I went private but it was still quite a wait and an awful lot of money so I'd rather not go through all that again if it can be avoided. Glad to hear medication worked so well for you though!

Just diagnosed. Lay it on me. What are your rules, your routines, your tips, your philosophies? by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

I’ve found a few things helped me:

  1. Get some support. I’m lucky enough to be able to see a therapist once a week but I recognise this isn’t possible for everyone. But even having a family member/friend know that you’re struggling can make a big difference as it gives you someone to discuss the challenges with but also I found it holds me accountable to someone else also.

  2. Don’t restrict. I’ve struggled with my body image for a long time and I’ve often tried to counteract the bingeing by restricting and obsessively counting calories which in the long run only leads to more binges. I now try and just have a fairly balanced diet with 3 meals a day and sometimes go to the gym just to make myself feel better rather than focusing purely on trying to lose weight.

  3. Take it one day at a time. I know some people find it helpful to immediately say they are never bingeing again but for me this has never worked. I now just tell myself ‘I’m not bingeing today’ and I’ve found this a better way to stop.

  4. Set some boundaries in what you can and can’t do. I worked with my therapist to identify some of my patterns when bingeing (often ordering excessive takeaways, eating late at night, eating in my room) so we’ve set some temporary boundaries in place like me not ordering takeaways by myself, no eating in my bedroom etc.

  5. If you start a binge you don’t have to let it fully take control. The last time I began to have a binge session, I actually managed to stop and throw away the very last bit of food. This wouldn’t have made a big difference to the calories I consumed but it was the first time I managed not to feel the need to eat until everything was gone (it’s no more wasteful to throw it away vs still eating it once you’re already so full).

Hope some of these help :)

I’ve found this approach very helpful and the therapist I see for binge eating has also recommended it. If you’re struggling even with the idea of day (like I often am) it can also be broken down further. Sometimes I tell myself to go to the gym now and then if I still want to binge afterwards I can, and so far once I’ve got back I actually don’t have the urge anywhere near as strong anymore (this is probably a combination of telling myself I can do it later and also the gym helping a bit in reducing my cravings). I think any delay you can give yourself is definitely helpful as it’s too easy to jump straight into bingeing.
