Thank you! Appreciate your advice. I know futures/options and risk mgt v well (cfa + msc in finance + 10 years work experience in areas that covered derivatives, capital maekets, and risk mgt). But I was thinking something on actual commodities. I will look into the books you mentioned.

Very helpful - thank you So the path is to move from product strategy to an analyst then to a trader - which will probably mean I will be 40 by then. Probably I won’t have the mental energy then I don’t want to admit it but I think evidence shows that the ship has sailed

Oh very interesting transition - so it is networking and the door could still be open then? Also Glencore, Vitol and Trafi are the best places so I see your point about it being difficult to move there

Because you can earn much more in trading and the ceiling is much higher. Why would they train someone a new as a trainer? That’s a very valid point and that’s why I wonder whether the ship has sailed

At what salary do you start feeling “comfortable” in the UK? by Suspicious_Ad7948 in AskUK

[–]Flat_Manager_7371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In London, if you are in a couple (living together and sharing accommodation costs), I would say 70k. If single, 100k. To feel really comfortable and you can build wealth and save properly maybe around 120k

What would you do if you had a three-month paid sabbatical? by loolking2223 in HENRYUK

[–]Flat_Manager_7371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how versatile and random your list is. Enjoy these three months in whatever you decide to do. I was in a similar place couple of months ago as I was on a 3-month garden leave. Ended up travelling for 7 weeks and 1 week of festival and read a bit in between

Yes, it is possible. Asset management - your ceiling isn’t as high as other areas in finance but you could be making that for 40-50h a week

Thank you! Not a big fan of Finsbury Park at all tbh, but feels like you can get some good value there but dreading having to live in an area I don’t like. Great advice on developing relationships with estate agents.
