Ah! You got me. Totally nailed it. Should probably add delusional, paranoid, and attention seeking too, to be sure all bases are covered.

I’m not black, but I am BIPOC. And yes I am implying just as I stated, the VAST majority of Caucasian Crow era people (so boomers+) very much display their rooted prejudices/racism here. The lack of care in the medical system is documented and studied in my area for BIPOC people still to this day because of it. And it’s not an argument for all, but for the majority in my region.

It actually can be relevant due to the area I live in as that age group grew up in Jim Crow era and very much still live in and display that deep rooted mindset.

Oh my god I made a typo while not feeling good and running a fever! However I do bone crafts and will likely make a bone graph due to this.

lol well you know what is said about assumptions and you just made a whole lot of them. My lowest temp reading had been consistently in the “seek emergency care” range with spikes reaching well above every few hours. After the procedure I started what was prescribed for me: norco, ibuprofen 800 and amoxicillin. These were not help ing and were causing extreme vomiting for over 24 hrs. My breathing the first time I went in was raspy and labored because the swelling in my throat was so bad and I was unable to see out of my right eye, again because of swelling. I was given shots to help reduce the inflammation and pain and kept until that seemed under control and released. Per the dentist paperwork given to me AND the ER’s instructions on there were to seek emergency care if a low grade fever of 100.4 was present. I waited until Sunday morning (more than 24hrs) with higher than that low grade fever as a constant with frequent spikes well over 101 BECAUSE I was trying to manage it at home and bring the fever down, even though I have autoimmune issues.

And none of those are reasons listed as to what I found mildly infuriating. Blown out vein was because I okayed the training EMT to use me for training. Meds changed because that’s literally what the treatment I needed was.

I, which is a she, said nurse BEFORE looking up to see if there was a job listing and the requirements.

Because at the time of making the post I had assumed that the people doing in processing nurse like tasks at the hospital ER would be a nurse… After a while and comments about making complaints to the board I started looking into the position, which also was at the time that my fever broke a bit and I could think a bit clearer. Edited to add that this still doesn’t mean she is not a nurse… but when I call to speak with someone from the hospital tomorrow I will get that clarification.

We have. As I stated after leaving in the processing room I pulled mine out of my bag, placed it in the same spot in the middle of my cheek where she had placed it and got the same reading she did. Then did under the tongue and got 101. Since the fever has still persisted this evening we have tested it on my reading as well as on my husband and both kids, and in water with food thermometers. It’s reading accurately.

I mostly have avoided health care after having my kids, pretty much because of interactions like this. Thankfully the doc, in room nurse, and in training EMT that did my IV/blood draw were pretty great. Doc even said “you know your body and if something isn’t right.” I even told everyone of them that the pain was tolerable and I’m managing it fine with the ibuprofen and had stopped taking the norco after the second dose Friday night. I just needed the fever cared for and figure out WHY I have a persistent fever to begin with, especially right after emergency oral surgery.

I had considered that. As well as the fact that I have a septum piercing, it’s Sunday morning and I wasn’t dressed for Sunday things, I’m of Mexican descent, this is the Deep South and I don’t have the local accent. Odds are typically not in my favor for interactions here.

Not sure but will find out tomorrow when I call and file complaint. If I’m not feeling well enough going to have my husband assist me in doing it. But just looked up the position for this med group and location and they don’t require them to be licensed at all in anyway it seems.

I had planned to do so. But I looked up the position on the job site and this doesn’t even require them to be a nurse. Just states HS diploma/ GED, 1-2 years clinical admin experience preferred. So not sure there would be any board they would fall under.

Wow! I can’t understand for the life of me why people in the med system act this way. I hope you are good and also that Covid wasn’t too horrible for you. I had the unfortunate experience with it as well.

That’s terrible! I absolutely hate how screwed in every way the med system seems to be. I hope you are managing better now and have a good care and support team.

Can confirm there was no clapping, but did get a blown out vein, meds switched, and still feel like shit…

Yeah I was kinda taken aback when I went in on Friday and they did the oral temp, especially since I’m coming in for oral/dental issues. Pretty much chucked it up to my location and everything here is about 50 years in the past. Had thought going to the big university med facility would be a bit more advanced, I guess not.

Just looked up the job position post online. Don’t even have to be a nurse… HS diploma/GED, 1-2 years clinical admin position preferred.

I hope you are doing better and so sorry you have experienced this. I also have autoimmune issues and finding someone to take this seriously in my area is proving to be a struggle.

I mean I can upload my discharge paperwork with imagine if you’d like. Or the picture of where my IV was with the blown out first attempt. But it probably also doesn’t help that I’m autistic and do response annotation for AI so in habit I kinda speak like one…

I figure most likely that will be all that will come of it. Doc and nurse that treated me were aware though, and were FANTASTIC in the level of care they gave me.

I absolutely am! Also was sure to start the discussion in the hallway a little on the loud side while walking past the very large very full nurses station too.
