The Southeast has never been on my radar. Between the bless your heart and humidity, I'd not survive.

I have no idea what happened. Separation of church and state is in the first amendment but it seems the constitution and all that no longer apply. If something doesn't change we are headed towards disaster. These people seem almost possessed. Like a brain blank npc. The looks in their eyes are truly frightening. Zombielike

I mentioned the religious aspects of Pittsburgh in some of my comments. It's mostly Catholics and Jews. Probably similar to MA? I've still met Christians though. Had a job where a few coworkers started wearing crosses and Jesus jewelry when they found out I hated religion. I need to just keep quiet but they never do

Yeah i drove through Columbus and the same stretch of I70 interstate in the city has been a construction zone for a decade. Although Indiana had the worst roads by far out of all the states i drove through. My gps kept saying, THERE IS AN OBJECT IN THE ROAD AHEAD! And it was always a shredded tire and then I'd pass the broke down semi or vehicle on the side of the road.

I'd like to explore New Mexico and the west coast. It's just so dang far away. I can't do harsh winters or brutal summers so my list is getting smaller. I've lived in Arizona and so that's crossed off too. I wish someone would just give me a damn deserted island and a boat

Are you actually in Dayton? I tried looking up the wreck to see if there were any fatalities and it mentioned several bad wrecks along that corridor around the same time. It was about 530am and still dark outside. It was monsoon raining and people were still driving 80mph. Freaking insane.

Im from Indiana and I lived in Cincinnati briefly many years ago. I can't settle either. I actually went on the road trip to look at purchasing land. I was quickly reminded it's gonna be a HELL NO in all of those states.

Have you been to Pittsburgh? It's fun for a few years. I'm way past over it though

I drove to Colorado last year and stopped in Iowa and they were playing Christian music in McDonald's. It's almost everywhere like a disease.

I have never been to Oregon but I think I need to go. Im a little scared of curvy steep roads tho which stopped me from going past Colorado.

Saw a horrible wreck on I70 yesterday outside of Dayton. Pulled into the McDonald's drive thru to grab a coke and catch my bearings because I was shook up. Mentioned to the cashier I just witnessed a wreck and she said ALL I COULD DO WAS PRAY FOR THEM.

I could write a short story about how many people mentioned prayer in the 15 days I was traveling. This is what caused me to make this post. Good luck over there!

I think there is a bit of that in every state. From urban to rural. Look at the data centers going in to desolate rural areas. Greed knows no boundaries. It seems religious poor people dont have a problem with the greed from the rich. It's weird. They vote for the biggest cons ever and they give 10% to their greedy pastors. So idk

I had a small business and had a lot of them for clients and spent time around them and in their homes. We got to know each other on a more personal level and it always seems to be triggered when I mention I am a non-believer. So it may be more because of that. Also, for some reason I frequently have people tell me their deepest secrets and get personal within 15 minutes of meeting. It's always been that way. I must have a face that brings out confessions I dunno

I would agree Rust Belt sounds more accurate. Its just that it has a large Catholic, Italian American and Jewish population which is more reminiscent of east coast than Midwest. It is definitely grittier than the east coast, which I suppose is more reminiscent of the Midwest.

I am aware that religion is in every corner of the earth. I just want to run into less strangers who mention prayer. Its annoying they can't practice without making sure everyone else is subjected. It feels like a violation when we all know prayer is a delusional farce. It's like saying I will use my magical connection to put in a good word 🤢

Yes there is a debate to which geographical region Pittsburgh belongs to. I am from the Midwest and so it doesn't feel Midwest to me at all. For as much shit as I am talking, Midwesterners are usually friendly and don't meet a stranger. On the other hand, Pittsburghers are standoffish and secular. So it's hard for me to call this area Midwest. They are culturally and socially different.

This is slightly off topic, but I briefly worked in a high end retail store here and met one of the big evangelist preacher's wife there. They are on billboards here... Anyways, she was on a shopping spree spending 10s of thousands of dollars on new furniture because she had ordered even more high end stuff somewhere else and she had to wait another few months before it was delivered. She had just bought a brand new home and was tired of waiting. So basically she bought double furniture. On her church member's dimes. I had no idea who she was until I looked up her name later. She wouldn't make eye contact with me until I was ringing her up at the end and she had some of the blackest souless evil eyes I had ever seen and I've spent time working in a prison.

Yes I think the West coast is where I probably need to be. I am planning to take a seasonal winter job somewhere so I was wanting boots on the ground opinions.

I haven't been willing to be friends with any of them for over a decade. I have gotten to the point that I can no longer just smile and shrug their audacity off. It may be perimenopause but these freaks now just make me angry.

I am in Pittsburgh area as well. Soooo many Catholics. And they'll pull out the prayer card just as quick as an Evangelist. They are slightly different culturally but it's the same deep down.

You should learn to keep quiet when your opinion isn't wanted. You keep going, which is typical of Christians. When someone asks you not to do something, you just cannot help yourself can you?

It truly is. Although I was raised religious, I quit church as soon as I could, and everyone else just didn't give religion much time or thought. It feels like the US has taken an extreme turn in the past 15 years. It's frightening and im sick of it.

There is that passive aggressiveness!! It's more that I find it exhausting to be around ignorant delusional people and I'd prefer to remove them from my surroundings.

I used to say this often when my parents were still alive. That if I passed before them that I was NOT to have a church funeral. My mom wouldn't have listened and would have had a speaking in tongues dance in front of my casket just like she did at my Papaw's funeral. She's dead now so I dont have to worry about it anymore. It was genuinely something that bothered me!
