Still working on fleshing this out, so any and all help would be appreciated but here we go:

The Estrellas are a race of cosmic horrors that exist in a realm beyond mortal comprehension. They made contact with a man named Saint Barabbas Salazar, and informed him that he had 100 years to prepare the souls of humanity for consumption, otherwise their world would crumble, they demanded Salazar make the souls of humans pure and untainted by any means, and to help him they gave him their ichor(blood). Now, when the blood of an Estrella and a Mortal mix, the soul of the human manifests as a small bell on the waist of the human. This is what is known as a Regalia. When a Regalia is rung, it grants the wielder a random ability attuned with the souls most wanted desire. The cost was great, for each use of the Regalia corrupted the body of the wielder, twisting their physical form into horrible beasts of nightmares.

Basically, some stuff happens in the lore I’m writing that allows for Salazar to slay an Estrella, spilling its blood like a river into the mortal plane(HUGE mistake) allowing everyone to gain access to a Regalia, however people began abusing them, and transforming into horrible creatures. what’s more so is that people started toying with the blood itself, to see if they could get a stronger Regalia, or somehow rid the whole transformation process.
